Commented on PGC-1α in aging and anti-aging interventions
Post transcriptional regulation of PGC-1 alpha can control mitochondrial plasticity thus in turn controlling mitochondrial response to aging. Apparently resveratrol (commonly found in red wine!) leads to increased expression of PGC1alpha thus adding years to your life.

Article

Commented on A celebration of wine: wine IS medicine
Dealcoholized wine! Same benefits without the alcohol.

Article

Commented on Editorial: Cancer Models
could have been more in-depth article. I did not find much discussion on the different types of popular cancer mouse models.

Article

Commented on A novel model of bone-metastatic prostate cancer in immunocompetent Mice
Promising bone metastasis mouse model. Will provide excellent platform to study tumor cellular biology and interactions with immune system. I love how more efficient tumor models are being developed for each specific type of cancer. I hope we find better treatments for metastasis in the near future!

Article

Commented on CD34+ cells and endothelial progenitor cell subpopulations are associated with cerebral small vessel disease burden
Authors found that increased CSVD burden had significantly decreased circulating CD34+ thus making it a good biomarker for CSVD. The data is impressive.

Article

Commented on Meta-analysis of genome-wide association study data identifies additional type 1 diabetes risk loci
Interesting study! but it seems to be limited to studying European ancestry including the controls.

Journal

Commented on Biomarkers in Medicine
has anyone published in this? I wonder what the acceptance process is like...

Article

Commented on Biotechnology Companies
The list is too short and not current. Disappointing.

Article

Commented on Noninvasive biomarkers for prediction and diagnosis of heart transplantation rejection
Interesting article! Non-invasive biomarkers will eventually eliminate the need for MRIs and similar procedures currently used to monitor rejection.

Article

Commented on Preclinical models in radiation oncology
Mostly in vitro models are used for preclinical radiation oncology but some orthotropic mouse models are also used and are considered better for this research.

Journal

Commented on SCIENCE
High quality journal and multidisciplinary! No dearth of content variation.

Article

Commented on TARGETING TRICLOSAN
Triclosan is used in a plethora of skincare. products and surprisingly enough in unexpected places such as cutting boards and kids' toys. This overexposure to triclosan has been linked to thyroid issues. Looking forward to future steps/research to curb this issue.

Article

Commented on CYP21A2 genetics: When genotype does not fit phenotype
Interesting article! How the child did not develop CAH even after prenatal diagnosis of cyp21a2 mutation. Apparently, trimodular haplotype is the reason where there are two wt copies of the gene, one being normal and the other being mutated indicating that better genetic analysis is required to avoid further investigating in such cases.

Article

Commented on Eradicating C difficile
C. difficile is a growing concern in healthcare/clinical settings even after following required cleaning procedures in certain places. Eradicating C. difficile will definitely require more than bleach. This article mentions a mix of 6 naturally occurring bacteria that have successfully eradicated C. difficile in mice. Hopefully, this will translate well into clinical trials as well.
