when biotechnology/biomedical meets robotics!

Article

Commented on The effects of repeated oral gavage on the health of male CD-1 mice
Oral gavage is thought to be stressful for mice. This article indicates no major differences in cortisol levels of control vs study mice (male CD1's) in the first week but cortisol levels increased. There is added risk of perforating the esophagus so not my favorite method of dosing mice.

Article

Commented on Principles of Rodent Surgery for the New Surgeon
Well written protocol. It covers all aspects of rodent surgery preparation for the new surgeon including the most important one which is aseptic techniques.

Article

Commented on Dosing schedule-dependent attenuation of dexamethasone-induced muscle atrophy in mice
Dexamethasone, traditionally used to relieve inflammation and treat arthritis, is such a versatile drug. Lately, it has been studied in PTSD amongst war veterans by Mount Sinai researchers and even as potential COVID treatment during the current pandemic.

Article

Commented on New metastatic model of human small-cell lung cancer by orthotopic transplantation in mice
They passaged the aggressive metastatic human small-cell lung cancer cell line in mice. This is quite common practice now to develop new in vivo cancer models.

Article

Commented on Surviving polio in a post-polio world
it is sad to see millions of people are still suffering from Polio due to lack of awareness and knowledge.

Article

Commented on mRNA
Very informative article regarding mRNA potential in vaccine research.

Article

Commented on Cocaine modifies brain lipidome in mice
Interesting study but addictive drugs such as Cocaine research in mice raises ethical concerns.

Article

Commented on Antiaging Research Using Klotho Mice
Klotho mice have the 'klotho' gene which is involved in the suppression of different ageing phenotypes and transgenic mice that over express the klotho gene live longer than the wild type mice.

Article

Commented on Astrocytes and Behavior
Animal behavior results from the coordinated activity of astrocytes and neurons mediated by a chemical balanced dialogue between the two.

Journal

Commented on PROTEINS-STRUCTURE FUNCTION AND BIOINFORMATICS
This journal covers all areas of protein research, very informative!

Commented on Different susceptibility to social defeat stress of BalbC and C57BL6/J mice
Wow, Balbc's avoid social interactions when faced with defeat and C57Bl6 overeat/binge eat, lol

Commented on Engineered T cells can fight malignant T cells
Apparently the engineered T cells are programmed to detect CD5 on the T cells and they selectively kill malignant T cells only whereas in normal T cells the cytotoxic pathway is blocked by PI-9 and Bcl-2.
