Aims and Scope

Geological Magazine, established in 1864, is one of the oldest and best-known periodicals in earth sciences. It publishes original scientific papers covering the complete spectrum of geological topics, with high quality illustrations. Its worldwide circulation and high production values, combined with Rapid Communications and Book Review sections keep the journal at the forefront of the field.

This journal is included in the Cambridge Journals open access initiative, Cambridge Open Option.

First, the attitude of the editor is very important. If the editor is interested in your research content, the work efficiency will be greatly improved. The tolerance towards comments will also increase, meaning that even if multiple reviewers provide a large number of revision suggestions, they will not reject the paper outright, usually requesting major revisions. In addition, the journal has certain language requirements. GM is indeed a well-established SCI journal, published by Cambridge University Press. However, I always feel that its publicity effect is not significant enough, and the journal is relatively less popular compared to some earth science journals.

Four months after submission, I received major revisions feedback. After two weeks of making the revisions, the paper was directly accepted for publication. The whole process from submission to acceptance took a total of five months. It is a well-established SCI journal with high quality, but its impact factor has consistently remained around 2.4. I hope it can be improved slightly.
