Summary: This study aimed to improve the statistical power in detecting changes in brain glucose metabolism, amyloid, and tau deposition in Alzheimer's disease studies by using a reference tissue-based quantification approach. The results showed that the tracer-specific reference tissue improved the detection of PET SUVR changes, which is beneficial for early diagnosis, disease progression monitoring, and therapeutic response in Alzheimer's disease.

Summary: This study compared the characteristics of two frequently used tau PET tracers, F-18-flortaucipir and F-18-MK-6240, in the same subjects. The results showed that both tracers performed equally well in visual interpretations and were capable of quantifying signal in a common set of brain regions that develop tau pathology in Alzheimer disease. However, they also showed distinct patterns of apparent off-target binding, and F-18-MK-6240 exhibited a greater dynamic range in SUVR estimates.

Summary: Hibernomas are rare benign tumors originating from fetal brown adipose tissue. They can occur in various parts of the body, with thigh, shoulder, back, and neck being the most common locations, and are rarely found in the abdominal cavity, retroperitoneum, breast, bones, scrotum, and perirectum. We present a case of a 58-year-old woman with a mediastinal mass, who was incidentally found to have an FDG-avid fat-containing lesion in the omentum abutting the stomach.

Summary: This study evaluated the diagnostic accuracies of F-18-FDG PET or PET/CT for Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) through a systematic review and meta-analysis. The results showed that F-18-FDG PET/CT had excellent performance in diagnosing MCC and could be useful for exclusion and confirmation of the disease. Further large multicenter studies are needed to validate its diagnostic accuracy.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate heterogeneity indices of F-18 FP-CIT PET images in Parkinson's disease (PD) diagnosis and assess diagnostic accuracy using machine learning (ML). After calculating 108 indices, dimensional reduction to 71 dimensions using PCA allowed for 91.3% accurate classification. Machine learning methods such as logistic regression, support vector machine, random forest, and eXtreme Gradient Boosting were used, with the latter achieving a classification accuracy of 95.7%.

Summary: We presented cardiac F-18-FAPI PET/CT findings in 3 cases with myocarditis of varying duration. Different F-18-FAPI uptake was observed in myocarditis with different symptom durations, indicating the potential of F-18-FAPI PET/CT in evaluating fibrosis extent caused by myocarditis. This information may guide treatment decisions for patients with myocarditis.

The results showed that [F-18]DCFPyL had a significantly higher detection rate compared to [F-18]fluoromethylcholine.

Summary: The study enriched the family of publicly available brain PET templates by developing Chinese-specific template images based on [F-18]-FDG PET images of normal participants. The templates were validated through SPM analysis of Alzheimer's and Parkinson's patient images, accurately depicting disease-related brain regions with abnormal [F-18]-FDG uptake. The SPM analysis programmes developed also facilitated easy use of the templates, proving their effectiveness in brain function impairment analysis.

Summary: A 76-year-old man with yellowish discoloration of sclera and skin for 2 months was referred for F-18-FDG PET/CT to characterize a mass in the pancreas. PET/CT images showed intense FDG uptake in the head of the pancreas, with a lymph nodal mass in the hepatic hilar region, consistent with pancreatic malignancy. Histopathologic findings confirmed diffuse large B-cell lymphoma with no evidence of adenocarcinoma.

Summary: This study investigated the kinetics and longitudinal changes of [F-18]MK-6240 PET in cognitively-normal and cognitively-impaired subjects. The results suggest that eroded cerebral white matter or pons may be preferred for longitudinal studies, while eroded cerebellar gray matter showed larger cross-sectional effect sizes for group differentiation. The study also found high variability in extracerebral signal, which exhibited irreversible kinetics and nonsignificant longitudinal changes with high individual variability.
