Aims and Scope
Theoretical and Applied Fracture Mechanics' aims & scopes have been re-designed to cover both the theoretical, applied, and numerical aspects associated with those cracking related phenomena taking place, at a micro-, meso-, and macroscopic level, in materials/components/structures of any kind.

The journal aims to cover the cracking/mechanical behaviour of materials/components/structures in those situations involving both time-independent and time-dependent system of external forces/moments (such as, for instance, quasi-static, impulsive, impact, blasting, creep, contact, and fatigue loading). Since, under the above circumstances, the mechanical behaviour of cracked materials/components/structures is also affected by the environmental conditions, the journal would consider also those theoretical/experimental research works investigating the effect of external variables such as, for instance, the effect of corrosive environments as well as of high/low-temperature.

TAFM is probably in the top 2 in the field of fracture mechanics, although there are not many journals in the field of fracture mechanics. The journal review process is very efficient, with the first review taking a little over a month, and after revision, acceptance is usually within a few working days.

Here is the submission process for reference:
March 10, 2021: Submitted to the journal
March 10, 2021: Under review by the editor
March 10, 2021: Under review
April 14, 2021: Required reviews completed
April 17, 2021: Minor revision
April 28, 2021: Revision submitted to the journal
May 3, 2021: Under review by the editor
May 3, 2021: Under review
May 5: Decision in process
May 5: Accepted

Between April 14 and May 17, and between April 28 and May 3, there were weekends, but it seems like it only took a few days. Many thanks to Editor-in-Chief Luca Susmel, who usually handles manuscripts on the same day or the next day. I will continue to support them with good results in the future.

A very good and fast journal, but unfortunately my submission was rejected.

One reviewer recommended publication, while another reviewer recommended rejection twice. Ultimately, the editor decided to reject it. There were multiple changes in the dates during the process, but the reason is unknown.
