Aims and Scope
The Journal of the Science of Food and Agriculture publishes peer-reviewed original research, reviews, mini-reviews, perspectives and spotlights in these areas, with particular emphasis on interdisciplinary studies at the agriculture/ food interface.

SCI (Society of Chemical Industry) is a unique international forum where science meets business on independent, impartial ground. Anyone can join and current Members include consumers, business people, environmentalists, industrialists, farmers, and researchers. The Society offers a chance to share information between sectors as diverse as food and agriculture, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, materials, chemicals, environmental science and safety. As well as organising educational events, SCI awards a number of prestigious honours and scholarships each year, publishes peer-reviewed journals, and provides Members with news from their sectors in the respected magazine, Chemistry & Industry .

Originally established in London in 1881 and in New York in 1894, SCI is a registered charity with Members in over 70 countries.

The new submission system is fast, but when I submitted for the first time, it repeatedly said that some images could not be converted into PDF (this problem did not occur in the previous system at Elsevier). Additionally, we cannot see the generated PDF in the system, so we had to upload it several times. We couldn't see it in the submission system, and each time we had to ask our advisor to resize the images before uploading. The first review took 70 days, and the opinions of the two reviewers were not too demanding. Let me answer some common questions: the time during the "Under Review" stage does not change, and the "Under Review" status seems confusing. It seems like it will only show "Under Review" until the editor sends it back for revisions. The editor's handling is quite prompt; it went back to "Under Review" on the same day after a few revisions. The submission cycle of this journal varies greatly, with some articles being published in a little over two months, while others take more than half a year or even a year.

Posted in early May, underwent major revisions in mid-September, and accepted at the end of October. It took five months to submit, which is considered relatively slow. The abstract of this journal is in a three-paragraph format, and if one is not careful, it is easy to be rejected. I had two articles rejected before because I didn't pay attention to the submission guidelines and they were not sent for review. There are currently many submissions to this journal. I saw that there were already 3000 articles in my supervisor's email. However, the annual publication volume is only 700 articles, so the chances of acceptance are not high. However, the quality of the articles is guaranteed. It is a top journal in agricultural and forestry sciences, but it is in the second tier. It has great potential for the future, and I hope it can move up to the first tier.
