Regarding the recent review cycle issue of TCAS-2, let me explain it to you. Generally, this journal provides reviewers with one month (30 days) for the initial review. After 30 days, the action of the AE (Associate Editor) becomes crucial. Some AEs may continue to wait for the reviewers, resulting in the initial review exceeding one month. Some responsible AEs do not allow reviewers to review the manuscript beyond one month, which is more timely. If you are lucky enough to receive a revise and resubmit decision, the second review usually gives reviewers two weeks. However, some reviewers may not return their comments on time, and the role of the AE is important in such cases. Some AEs handle it promptly, while others continue to wait for the reviewers' feedback. This is the specific situation. However, in recent cases of this journal, the external review process may be fast, but the speed of AE handling has significantly decreased compared to 2018. In some cases, when the external review comments come back, they may stay with the AE for 1-2 months. It is unclear whether this is due to a significant increase in the number of submissions to this journal. Overall, the external review comments are still quite fast.
