"I chose to submit to the buildings, land, and ijgi journals before the warning, because the author had fewer publications and the proportion of Chinese authors was not the highest. The review process was fast, taking about 7 days with three reviewers. Two of them approved the paper directly, while one had some negative feedback and gave 5 must-do revisions, with 1-2 points being more serious (not necessary but could make the paper more rigorous), but all of them were solvable. After waiting for a week during the Chinese New Year, the editor gave a rejection with the opportunity to resubmit, asking me to focus on addressing the concerns of the negative reviewer (also saying that some changes that couldn't be made could be deleted instead).
Because the editor's feedback came a week after I saw the reviewer comments, I had already made the revisions during that week, so I resubmitted immediately after receiving the rejection.
Two or three days later, I saw that the paper was flagged, so I chose to withdraw it. It was frustrating to have to go through another round of revisions (although they were not major changes, and the research framework remained unchanged) and it took 20 days. But I am grateful to that stubborn reviewer, otherwise, if the paper had been accepted and then flagged, it would have been really embarrassing..."
The reason for rejection was because it reached the third round: the third reviewer disagreed with acceptance, while the other two reviewers agreed to accept. (There is also one crucial point: the editor asked me to add two references, which I did not include (I did not know it was necessary, as I have no experience in submitting articles). Therefore, the editor requested that I add those two references and resubmit the article.
I wrote the manuscript myself, without guidance from my two supervisors.
Now I am rushing to finish my doctoral thesis, which I will submit in January next year. After submitting my doctoral thesis, I will apply for a post-doctoral position. At that time, I will have time to resubmit this article.
I still have two manuscripts that I have not submitted because I must submit my doctoral thesis in January next year...
I really want to delete "rejected after submission"...
