Aims and Scope
Advances in Structural Engineering was established in 1997 and has become one of the major peer-reviewed journals in the field of structural engineering. To better fulfil the mission of the journal, we have recently decided to launch two new features for the journal: (a) invited review papers providing an in-depth exposition of a topic of significant current interest; (b) short papers reporting truly new technologies in structural engineering.

Verified Reviews
Note: Verified reviews are sourced from across review platforms and social media globally.
The first SCI paper was submitted for review and received feedback after 4 days. The first review took two months and required major revisions. Both reviewers were very friendly and polite, and they carefully pointed out all the spelling mistakes. Their suggestions mainly focused on adding charts or providing additional explanations. They also advised on polishing the abstract and conclusion. After revising the paper, it was resubmitted and received acceptance after one and a half months without any further revisions. It feels hopeful as long as one responds to the reviewers with a serious attitude.

Journal review is professional but not strict. There is a strict word limit. External review speed is normal, but the editorial process is slow after acceptance. The overall review cycle is within half a year, and it cannot be compared with the speed of journals like Elsevier, but it is considered normal. The impact factor of the journal is relatively low, which may be related to the publisher. Many schools, especially domestic universities, have not purchased the copyright of the journal, making it difficult to cite and increase its influence.
