Aims and Scope
Photonics (ISSN 2304-6732) aims at a fast turn around time for peer-reviewing manuscripts and producing accepted articles. The online-only and open access nature of the journal will allow for a speedy and wide circulation of your research as well as review articles. We aim at establishing Photonics as a leading venue for publishing high impact fundamental research but also applications of optics and photonics. The journal particularly welcomes both theoretical (simulation) and experimental research. Our aim is to encourage scientists to publish their experimental and theoretical results in as much detail as possible. There is no restriction on the length of the papers. The full experimental details must be provided so that the results can be reproduced. Electronic files and software regarding the full details of the calculation and experimental procedure, if unable to be published in a normal way, can be deposited as supplementary material.

Overall, the first review process took 48 days, which is slightly longer for an open-access journal. However, the subsequent handling was fast, and the outcome was good. I wish the journal continued success!

The first SCI paper, wanting to find a faster one, was submitted to Photonics. Initially, there were two reviewers, but later an additional reviewer's opinion was added, totaling about 20 comments. I was asked to make the revisions within a week, and finally submitted the revised version just in time. After returning, the editor sent my paper back to the reviewers, and after about a week, all the reviewers agreed to accept it. The paper was accepted and the whole process took about a month. The review process was quite strict, as even minor revisions were sent back to the reviewers for evaluation. I hope the journal doesn't mistakenly put it in the warning directory.
