OPT LASER TECHNOL

ISSN / eISSN
0030-3992
Aims and Scope
Optics & Laser Technology aims to provide a vehicle for the publication of a broad range of high quality research and review papers in those fields of scientific and engineering research appertaining to the development and application of the technology of optics and lasers. Papers describing original work in these areas are submitted to rigorous refereeing prior to acceptance for publication.
The scope of Optics & Laser Technology encompasses, but is not restricted to, the following areas:
•development in all types of lasers
•developments in optoelectronic devices and photonics
•developments in new photonics and optical concepts
•developments in conventional optics, optical instruments and components
•techniques of optical metrology, including interferometry and optical fibre sensors
•LIDAR and other non-contact optical measurement techniques, including optical methods in heat and fluid flow
•applications of lasers to materials processing, optical NDT display (including holography) and optical communication
•research and development in the field of laser safety including studies of hazards resulting from the applications of lasers (laser safety, hazards of laser fume)
•developments in optical computing and optical information processing
•developments in new optical materials
•developments in new optical characterization methods and techniques
•developments in quantum optics
•developments in light assisted micro and nanofabrication methods and techniques
•developments in nanophotonics and biophotonics
•developments in imaging processing and systems

2021.1 submitted; 2021.3 revision; 2021.5 accept. During the first review, the manuscript was urged once. Overall, the speed was acceptable and the review comments were very professional, which indeed improved the quality of the article.

Without considering the minor adjustments to Clarivate's impact factor calculation method this year, according to the 2020 impact factor prediction published by OLT in June this year, it is expected to be around 3.78, which is comparable to OE and OL. The division announced by the Chinese Academy of Sciences at the end of the year should firmly secure OLT in the second zone. Compared to OE's high page charges and OL's shorter length, OLT is a good alternative. Compared to the high volume of publications in OE and OL, the number of articles in OLT has been maintained at around 700 in the past two years. It can be said that this is a quantity of articles that balances both influence and impact factor, and I believe that its influence and impact factor will continue to rise in the future. Based on the current data, it is estimated that its impact factor for 2021 (to be released in June 2022) should surpass OE and OL. If this trend continues, OLT may become the gatekeeper of the first zone in optics in the coming years. For those who value the current reputation and influence of a journal, they can choose OE or OL, while those who value journal indicators and future potential can consider OLT.

The second article accepted by OLT was reviewed much faster this time.
October 2, 2021: Submission (reviewed by the editor in about three weeks)
November 30, 2021: Major revision
January 9, 2022: Revised submission
February 22, 2022: Minor revision
February 23, 2022: Accepted
The editorial process was indeed slow, probably because of the large number of manuscripts. However, it ultimately depends on the reviewers. In this case, out of the four reviewers, two rejected the article and two accepted it. After responding to the rejection comments and refuting them, the initially rejecting reviewers agreed to accept the article. Later, a minor revision was requested due to a grammatical issue in a sentence. Therefore, when facing rejection comments, it is necessary to respond and refute them.
