Food and Bioprocess Technology provides an effective and timely platform for cutting-edge high quality original papers in the engineering and science of all types of food processing technologies, from the original food supply source to the consumer’s dinner table. It aims to be a leading international journal for the multidisciplinary agri-food research community.

The journal focuses especially on experimental or theoretical research findings that have the potential for helping the agri-food industry to improve process efficiency, enhance product quality and, extend shelf-life of fresh and processed agri-food products. The editors present critical reviews on new perspectives to established processes, innovative and emerging technologies, and trends and future research in food and bioproducts processing. The journal also publishes short communications for rapidly disseminating preliminary results, letters to the Editor on recent developments and controversy, and book reviews.

My manuscript involves the research of using machine vision for the identification and classification of fruits and vegetables. When I first submitted the manuscript, the editor directly returned it and asked for a clarification of the innovative points of the manuscript compared to similar articles previously published in this journal. I think the main issue was that the references did not include the journal's references, so I added the journal's references and made comparisons to clarify the innovative aspects of this study. The resubmission was successful and sent for review.

October 21, 2020: Submitted
January 16, 2021: Major revisions and reconsideration. Two reviewers provided positive feedback, while one suggested rejection. The editor requested major revisions.
February 1, 2021: Submitted revised version
April 13, 2021: Minor revisions for acceptance. After the second round of revisions, two additional reviewers were added. The reviewer with positive feedback from the first revision stated that the modifications did not meet their requirements and suggested rejection. However, the opinions of the two new reviewers were positive. The editor accepted the manuscript after minor revisions.

Due to the lack of word limit in this journal and its preference for similar research directions, I submitted my manuscript in the past, which required me to compare it with the literature in this journal's field (basically asking me to cite their publications more). After a month and a half, I received major revisions, and after revising and resubmitting within a week or so, it was accepted for publication. Overall, the process was relatively fast.
