Summary: This study showed that induction of adventitious roots from in vitro raised leaves of Morinda coreia was most favorable with half-strength MS medium augmented with 4.0 mg/L indole-3 butyric acid (IBA) under dark conditions, resulting in negligible callus formation. The protocol can be used for large scale proliferation of roots and enhanced production of dye (anthraquinones).

Summary: The polysaccharide from Morinda citrifolia fermentation liquor was extracted using the hot water method. The presence of acetylated polysaccharide, phosphorylated polysaccharide, carboxymethylated polysaccharide, and sulfated polysaccharide was identified through IR and NMR spectra. The results demonstrate that Morinda citrifolia polysaccharide and its derivatives exhibit good antioxidant activity.

Summary: The study found that the optimal condition for Polygonum multiflorum bioreactor culture is full-strength MS medium supplemented with 2 mg/L IBA and 5% sucrose. Low MS salt strength increased total phenolics and flavonoids accumulation but reduced biomass accumulation. Bioreactor cultures play a crucial role in biomass production and bioactive compounds accumulation in medicinal plant adventitious root cultures.

Summary: This study investigated the changes in polysaccharides of Morinda citrifolia L. (Noni) at five maturity stages. The results showed that fruit maturity significantly affected the extraction yield, molecular weight, sugar content, antioxidant capacity, and DNA protective effects of Noni polysaccharides. Stage 4 and stage 5 were identified as the ideal stages for high-quality polysaccharide extraction.

Summary: This study aimed to determine the effects of different sucrose concentrations on rosmarinic acid content, biomass accumulation, and antioxidant activities in adventitious root culture of sweet basil. The results showed that the optimum sucrose concentration for maximum rosmarinic acid production, fresh weight, total phenolic and flavonoid accumulation, PAL activity, and antioxidant activity was 2.0%. Additionally, stress parameters and antioxidant enzyme activities were the lowest at this sucrose concentration.

Summary: In this study, the researchers investigated the molecular mechanisms controlling the development of shoot-borne adventitious/crown roots in rice. They identified transcription factors from the WUSCHEL-RELATED HOMEOBOX and PLETHORA gene families that play non-redundant and species-specific roles in determining root architecture. The study also revealed the involvement of PLT genes in promoting crown root development through the activation of local auxin biosynthesis genes. Interestingly, the PLT genes from rice were able to rescue lateral root primordia outgrowth defects in Arabidopsis mutants, indicating their conserved role in root primordia outgrowth regardless of their developmental origin. This research provides a molecular framework for understanding the tissue transdifferentiation during root primordia establishment and the evolution of transcription regulation in acquiring species-specific function.

Summary: The study showed that differential sucrose feeding significantly affects the production and accumulation of SGs in Stevia SRC, with biomass accumulation and biosynthesis of major SGs being influenced by sucrose concentration. Adventitious root cultures could be a viable option for large-scale production of SGs, with the potential for enhancing biosynthesis of major SGs through sucrose regulation.

Summary: The study evaluated the growth potential and various bioactivities of Panax ginseng C.A. Meyer adventitious roots, including antioxidant, thrombolytic, anticoagulant, and anthelmintic properties. The use of laboratory-scale bioreactor resulted in higher growth ratio compared to shake flask culture, with qualitative estimation revealing multiple phytochemical classes in the extracts. Dose-dependent antioxidant activities were observed, along with significant thrombolytic and anthelmintic properties displayed by different extracts. The results imply commercial feasibility for ginseng production in Bangladesh and indicate potential medicinal implications for further research.
