Summary: The study found that tenascin-C inhibits CD8 T cell infiltration by inducing CXCL12, which may contribute to the low response rates of immune checkpoint therapy in cancer treatment. Blocking the CXCR4 receptor of CXCL12 enhances macrophage and CD8 T cell infiltration, reducing tumor growth and metastasis.

Summary: The activation of RON signaling in macrophages supports breast cancer growth and metastasis by modulating the interactions with tumor cells and other leukocytes. This involves direct effects on tumor cells and indirect effects by regulating the recruitment of various immune cells in the tumor microenvironment, including macrophages, T-cells, and B-cells. Additionally, macrophage RON expression plays a role in modulating the macrophage secretome, including immunosuppressive factors like IL-35, to promote a pro-tumor environment in breast cancer.

Summary: The study proposes an image-based prognostic marker for breast cancer that uses deep learning to objectively assess tumor heterogeneity. The marker demonstrates the ability to predict both patient survival and distant metastasis in early-stage breast cancer, with comparable accuracy to traditional manual assessment methods.

Summary: Liquid biopsy is a promising tool for monitoring cancer therapy, but further research is needed to improve sensitivity, specificity, standardization, and cost-effectiveness. In this study, two panels of transcripts related to circulating tumor cells (CTCs) were evaluated in breast cancer patients. The positivity rates of these panels were higher in metastatic patients compared to early-stage patients. Certain individual markers within these panels correlated with shorter overall survival in the metastatic patients. The findings highlight the additional value of non-epithelial phenotype markers in Panel 2.

Summary: The study found that mechanical forces can impact gene expression in breast cancer cells, affecting their proliferation, chemoresistance, and metastatic abilities. Mechanotransduction pathways play a role in regulating adhesion and survival signaling in breast cancer cells under mechanical load.

Summary: This literature review addresses the role of the aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AhR) and its ligands in breast cancer. The study explores the biological mechanisms of AhR agonists in interfering with breast endocrine functions and their impact on breast cancer development and progression. The findings suggest that exposure to AhR agonists stimulates pathways that promote breast cancer and contribute to tumor progression. Therefore, the evaluation and regulation of industrial and agricultural chemicals and other toxicants are essential in reducing the risk of breast cancer.

Summary: Cancer stem cells (CSCs) play a crucial role in tumor initiation and development, as well as in chemoresistance and metastasis. Nanog, a cell surface marker, is upregulated in various cancers and contributes to the stemness, self-renewal, metastasis, invasiveness, and chemoresistance of cancer cells. The function of Nanog in multiple cancers is of significant importance for cancer treatment.

Summary: The expression of ZNF451 is upregulated in triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) and is associated with a poor prognosis. ZNF451 enhances TNBC progression by interacting with and enhancing the activity of the transcriptional activator SLUG. Disturbing the ZNF451-SLUG interaction can suppress TNBC progression by reducing CCL5 expression and counteracting the migration and activation of tumor-associated macrophages.

Summary: The research identified the immune gene GMFG as an important prognostic marker for breast cancer, with lower expression linked to poor prognosis. GMFG expression was also associated with tumor subtype, growth, and infiltration of CD8+ T cells, suggesting an anti-tumor role in breast cancer. GMFG has the potential to become a novel immune biomarker for the diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer.
