Aims and Scope
NAVIGATION is a quarterly journal published by The Institute of Navigation. The journal publishes original, peer-reviewed articles on all areas related to the science, engineering and art of Positioning, Navigation and Timing (PNT) covering land (including indoor use), sea, air and space applications. PNT technologies of interest encompass navigation satellite systems (both global and regional), inertial navigation, electro-optical systems including LiDAR and imaging sensors, and radio-frequency ranging and timing systems, including those using signals of opportunity from communication systems and other non-traditional PNT sources. Articles about PNT algorithms and methods, such as for error characterization and mitigation, integrity analysis, PNT signal processing and multi-sensor integration, are welcome. The journal also accepts articles on non-traditional applications of PNT systems, including remote sensing of the Earth’s surface or atmosphere, as well as selected historical and survey articles.

The recommended paper for the ION Navigation Annual Conference was submitted to this journal, and it still has a certain influence in the field of satellite navigation. However, the speed of the review process is really not commendable. It took four months for the first review round, and it took two months to receive the major revisions.

The editor-in-chief, the editorial staff, and two anonymous reviewers all provided comments, totaling 25 comments. Among them, both the editor-in-chief and the editorial staff made two suggestions, which were relatively fair. One reviewer considered the paper to be innovative and provided minor revisions along with three minor suggestions. The other reviewer provided major revisions with 19 suggestions, but the comments were objective and did not nitpick. After adding experiments and explanations, they agreed to accept the paper.

Overall, the impression this journal gave me is very professional. The number of papers accepted each year is particularly low, around 40-60, with only a dozen or so per quarter. It is more difficult than some Q1 journals, perhaps because it has a certain recognition in the specialized field of PNT. The editors and reviewers are very professional, and I suggest submitting papers in the fields of satellite navigation, remote sensing, positioning, and timing! But if you are in a hurry to graduate, please don't submit here. Remote sensing, measurement, and even GPS solutions are much faster than this.

The ION conference paper was recommended to this journal. Although the Impact Factor is not high, it is highly recognized in the field of navigation. The submission process is as follows:
SUBMITTED (20-Oct-2021)
Major Revision (29-Dec-2021)
A revision has been submitted (25-Jan-2022)
Major Revision (09-Apr-2022)
A revision has been submitted (20-Apr-2022)
Accept (14-Jul-2022)
I suggest reminding them to expedite the manuscript, as the editor-in-chief seems to not check emails often!
