The review process is a bit slow, completely unlike the average 6+28 days advertised by the journal. I submitted on August 9th, and it wasn't in peer review until the 17th. On the 22nd, it changed to "with editor," and on the 29th, it was "under review" again. On September 1st, it went back to "with editor," coinciding with the lockdown in Chengdu. On the 5th, I couldn't wait any longer and asked the editor, but surprisingly, I hadn't received any peer review results. None of the reviewers had reviewed it. On the 7th, it went back to "under review" again, and on the 10th, it was "with editor" once more. On the night of the 12th, it went back to "under review" again, and a few hours later, it was "with editor" again. On the 13th, I couldn't resist asking the editor again, and finally received a peer review result. I guess it was written by the reviewer who spent several hours reviewing it. On the 15th, it went back to "under review" once more, and finally, on the 21st, I received the editor's decision. Minor revisions, mostly regarding language and formatting. Thank goodness! The quality of articles in JMCB seems good, but the review process is just too slow. Maybe it's because everyone was on vacation in August, and there were no reviewers available, or perhaps no one was willing to review for free.

The paper in the field of tissue engineering took a little over a month for the first review, with two reviewers providing very professional suggestions for revisions. They recommended additional experiments and had quite challenging perspectives. One of the reviewers raised innovative questions, but the editor still asked for major revisions. After the revisions, the second review took only a week, and the paper was given minor revisions. The reviewers only pointed out language issues (although the revisions had already been proofread, oops). The revised paper was accepted in less than a week. The editor's efficiency was quite high, and the reviewers were very professional. The editor was very nice. Once again, I am grateful to JMCB and wish JMCB continued success!
