Aims and Scope
Biomaterials Advances, previously known as Materials Science and Engineering: C-Materials for Biological Applications (P-ISSN: 0928-4931, E-ISSN: 1873-0191). Includes topics at the interface of the biomedical sciences and materials engineering. These topics include:
• Bioinspired and biomimetic materials for medical applications
• Materials of biological origin for medical applications
• Materials for "active" medical applications
• Self-assembling and self-healing materials for medical applications
• "Smart" (i.e., stimulus-response) materials for medical applications
• Ceramic, metallic, polymeric, and composite materials for medical applications
• Materials for in vivo sensing
• Materials for in vivo imaging
• Materials for delivery of pharmacologic agents and vaccines
• Novel approaches for characterizing and modeling materials for medical applications
Manuscripts on biological topics without a materials science component, or manuscripts on materials science without biological applications, will not be considered for publication in Materials Science and Engineering C. New submissions are first assessed for language, scope and originality (plagiarism check) and can be desk rejected before review if they need English language improvements, are out of scope or present excessive duplication with published sources.
Biomaterials Advances sits within Elsevier's biomaterials science portfolio alongside Biomaterials, Materials Today Bio and Biomaterials and Biosystems. Verified Reviews
The global pandemic has resulted in fewer submissions, and reviewers may have had more free time at home, which could be the main reason for the faster review process. When I submitted in late December, the manuscript number was only in the 2000s. I am extremely grateful that the reviewers and editors were working even during the Christmas period.
Finally, I wish everyone's articles can be accepted quickly and smoothly.
2021 1016 with editor - Under review by the editor on October 16, 2021.
2021 1101 under review - Under review since November 1, 2021 (Due to graduation, I was anxious and wrote a reminder letter to inquire. The editor received it and immediately sent it for review).
2021 1116 Required reviews completed - Reviews were completed on November 16, 2021.
2021 1123 Major revision - Major revisions needed on November 23, 2021.
2021 1209 revision submit - Revised version submitted on December 9, 2021.
2022 0103 accept - Accepted on January 3, 2022.
Unexpectedly, I discovered that the submission time for the revised manuscript was the same as the one mentioned above. Could it be the same reviewer? Haha~
Before submitting to this journal, I experienced four consecutive rejections from Small, Theranostics, ACS AMI, and Acta Biomaterialia. However, the overall process with MSE-C was quite smooth. As a transition phase from 6-8, it was slightly slower, but overall it was worth submitting again in the future!
