Aims and Scope
Acta Geotechnica is an international journal devoted to the publication and dissemination of basic and applied research in geoengineering – an interdisciplinary field dealing with geomaterials such as soils and rocks. Coverage emphasizes the interplay between geomechanical models and their engineering applications. The journal presents original research papers on fundamental concepts in geomechanics and their novel applications in geoengineering based on experimental, analytical and/or numerical approaches. The main purpose of the journal is to foster understanding of the fundamental mechanisms behind the phenomena and processes in geomaterials, from kilometer-scale problems as they occur in geoscience, and down to the nano-scale, with their potential impact on geoengineering. The journal strives to report and archive progress in the field in a timely manner, presenting research papers, review articles, short notes and letters to the editors.

Verified Reviews
Note: Verified reviews are sourced from across review platforms and social media globally.
A very rigorous journal, several reviewers are industry experts, their comments are all to the point, and after several revisions, the quality of the article has been greatly improved. The only drawback is that the review process is relatively slow, not suitable for articles that require quick results. It would be better to submit such articles to open-access journals. The impact factor of the journal has been increasing every year, which is closely related to the quality assessment by the editor-in-chief. After reading the comments, I really don't understand those who give negative reviews just because their papers were rejected. I just want to say: for good articles, the reviewers have a discerning eye, and they will eventually be accepted no matter how slow it is! Instead of complaining about the reviewers, it is better to spend time improving the quality of the article! Not all journals are suitable for publishing low-quality content!

After undergoing major and minor revisions, the first external review process took a slightly longer time, about six months. The reviewers were very serious and responsible, and their professional questions greatly contributed to the improvement of the article. The editorial handling time is usually around one week. It takes about a month to receive acceptance notification online.
The journal has strict requirements, and even minor revisions may require external review.
The journal has a good reputation in the industry and was ranked in the first tier of the Chinese Academy of Sciences last year. We look forward to its return to the top tier once again.
