ISSN / eISSN
0890-6955
Aims and Scope
The International Journal of Machine Tools and Manufacture is devoted to advances in scientific understanding of essential mechanics of processes and machines applied to the manufacture of engineering components, mainly in metals, but also in composites, ceramics and other structural/functional materials. To this end coverage is given to a range of topics that includes:

•Essential mechanics of processes involving material removal, accretion and deformation, in solid, semi-solid or particulate form
•Significant scientific development of existing or new processes and machines
•In-depth characterisation of workpiece materials (structure/surfaces) by advanced techniques (e.g. SEM, EDS, TEM, EBSD, AES, Raman spectroscopy) to reveal new phenomenological aspects that govern manufacturing processes
•Tool design, utilisation and in-depth studies of failure mechanisms
•Novel concepts of machine tools/fixtures/tool holders supported by modelling and demonstrations that are relevant to manufacturing processes within the journal's remit
•Novel scientific contributions dealing with interactions between the machine tool, control system, software design and processes.
•Studies of specific mechanisms governing niche processes (e.g. ultra-high precision, nano /atomic level manufacturing with either mechanical or non-mechanical "tools")
•Novel approaches, supported by adequate in-depth scientific analysis, addressing emerging /breakthrough processes (e.g. bio-inspired manufacturing) and/or applications (e.g. ultra-high precision optics)

Posted on September 12th, rejected on September 16th.
Manuscript number at the time of submission: 22-91*.
Estimated number of submissions: an average of about 1200-1400 per year, an average of about 100-120 per month, an average of about 5-6 publications per month, with a submission rate of only about 4-5%.
On September 13th, 2022, the status changed to "with editor" and the manuscript number became 22-60*.
Format screening + initial review, with 30% removed.
Unfortunately, the manuscript did not pass this round of review by the editorial department and was not sent for external review.
The journal mainly focuses on the submission of new theories, methods, and models related to the reporting manufacturing process. Papers should propose new models or explore new phenomena in the field of target manufacturing with scientific impact in the IJMTM.
A very good journal with fast manuscript processing speed. Results of the first round of screening are available within 1-2 days, and it is known within a week whether it will be sent for review. Looking forward to the opportunity to submit again in the future.

First submission, it was probably not rejected because the research topic was relatively novel. However, there were numerous comments in the feedback, thoroughly criticizing the article from various aspects, using very harsh and straightforward language.

After one month of revisions, the second round of review comments were similar to the first round, pointing out that there were still many issues with the article and the revisions were perfunctory, avoiding the main problems. There was no choice but to continue making changes with determination, fortunately, I did not give up, and eventually the article was accepted.

Although the reviewers' comments were very sharp, their perspectives and depth of analysis were indeed unique, and there were points that I had not considered before. The suggestions from the editors and reviewers greatly helped improve the quality of the article.

Three rounds of review, each review cycle took about 20 days, and the submission system provided quick updates. Overall, the process was quite fast.

I will try again with new ideas next time.
