Aims and Scope

The IEEE Transactions on Pattern Analysis and Machine Intelligence publishes articles on all traditional areas of computer vision and image understanding, all traditional areas of pattern analysis and recognition, and selected areas of machine intelligence, with a particular emphasis on machine learning for pattern analysis. Areas such as techniques for visual search, document and handwriting analysis, medical image analysis, video and image sequence analysis, content-based retrieval of image and video, face and gesture recognition and relevant specialized hardware and/or software architectures are also covered.

Summary: TPAMI is indeed well-deserved in its reputation. The reviewers' comments were very helpful, and after making revisions according to their suggestions, the quality of the paper significantly improved. Overall, the review speed is acceptable. In both rounds of submission, I received opinions in about four months, which is relatively consistent.

The new EIC has promoted a series of review reforms to compete with top conferences for excellent manuscripts. The review speed has significantly increased, while ensuring the quality of the review process. The reviewers are indeed knowledgeable experts, far better than the "random" reviews of top conferences, especially when the AE provides highly informative and guiding opinions. Those who have published have experienced the agonizing revision process, as the reviewers' demands and their own expectations are high. Generally, innovation, theoretical proof, and numerical verification are all required. Overall, it is prestigious to publish a paper in TPAMI, and the overall level is higher than that of top conferences.
