Summary: This article critically reviews the activation, effector, and regulation of T cells in respiratory viral infections and chronic inflammations associated with COPD, highlighting the importance of crosstalk among T cells, innate immune cells, and airway epithelial cells in the pathogenesis of viral infections and COPD. It emphasizes the specificity of peptide antigens and the functional heterogeneity of conventional CD4(+) and CD8(+) T cells as potential targets for future development of therapeutics against respiratory viral infections and inflammations.

Summary: Bcl10 plays a critical role in the development and function of regulatory T (Treg) cells, deficiency of which leads to impaired development and suppressive function of Treg cells, even causing lethal autoimmunity. Bcl10-deficient Treg cells can undergo conversion into proinflammatory cells and decrease in effector Treg cell populations. The study provides genetic evidence that Bcl10 is essential for Treg cell development and function.

Summary: This article summarizes the pathophysiology and treatment options for PH in COPD patients, pointing out that current research still does not fully understand its underlying mechanisms, and some of the treatment methods tested in clinical settings have not been effective. Preclinical studies have proposed some treatment approaches.

Summary: This study investigated the role and alterations of TIGIT+Tregs in acute coronary syndrome (ACS) patients. The results showed that TIGIT+Tregs levels were significantly reduced in ACS patients, accompanied by increased IL-6 expression and decreased TGF-I3 expression. Downregulated TIGIT+Tregs were independent predictors of ACS.

Summary: Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is characterized by irreversible airway limitation and persistent respiratory symptoms. Dysbiosis of pulmonary microbiota is believed to play a role in the pathogenesis of COPD, but research in this area is still in its early stages. Integrating data from various studies can enhance our understanding of the occurrence and progression of COPD and acute exacerbations.

Summary: MAIT cells in COPD patients exhibit distinct biological functions, producing more IL-17 and less IFN-γ compared to healthy individuals, and are correlated with inflammation levels and lung function. These cells are highly expressed in inflammatory tissues, suggesting a potential role in COPD immunopathology.

Summary: Patients with COPD exhibit increased oxidative stress in their lungs, which can be caused by external factors such as smoking and air pollution, as well as internal factors such as inflammation. Oxidative stress plays a major role in driving the pathology of COPD, leading to chronic inflammation, cellular senescence, impaired autophagy, and reduced repair mechanisms. Antioxidants may be effective in modifying the disease progression of COPD.

Summary: COPD is a prevalent chronic airway disease with acute exacerbations as the main cause of morbidity and mortality. NK cells are thought to play important roles in the pathogenesis of COPD but the specific mechanisms remain largely unknown. Further in-depth studies are needed to elucidate these mechanisms.

Summary: COPD is a leading cause of death worldwide, characterized by emphysema and chronic bronchitis, with smoking as a significant risk factor in developed countries. Chronic inflammation contributes to disease progression and comorbidities. Tocotrienols show potential as anti-inflammatory agents in COPD management.

Summary: This study evaluated and compared the expression of exosomal proteins CD9 and CD63 and MMR proteins in patients with prostate benign hyperplasia (BPH) and prostate carcinoma (PCa). CD9 protein expression was downregulated in PCa compared to BPH, while CD63 protein expression was upregulated in high-grade PCa but downregulated in low-grade PCa. Loss of MMR protein was associated with shorter progression-free survival (PFS) in high-grade PCa patients.
