Summary: Irisin is a newly discovered exercise-mediated polypeptide hormone. Studies have shown that Irisin protects against cell death by reducing pro-apoptotic signaling cascades, inducing DNA repair pathways, and inhibiting Caspase 3 activity. Additionally, Irisin acts through the Akt signaling pathway to prevent apoptosis, increase levels of anti-apoptotic BCL2, and reduce ROS levels. These findings provide new insights into the role of Irisin in promoting cell survival and preventing apoptosis in the human placenta under pathological conditions.

Summary: Variations in telomere length have been linked to aging, stress, and diseases. This study investigated the association between placental telomere length and preeclampsia. The results suggest that placental telomere length is not significantly different between severe preeclampsia cases and healthy controls, but it is negatively correlated with gestational age and influenced by race.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the function of Epsin 3 (EPN3) in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). The results showed that EPN3 was up-regulated in NSCLC patients and cells, indicating a lower overall survival. Loss of EPN3 weakened proliferation, migration, and invasion of NSCLC cells, induced apoptosis, and repressed epithelial-mesenchymal transition. EPN3 acted as an oncogene in NSCLC by activating the JAK1/2-STAT3 pathway.

Summary: The study demonstrated the crucial role of MNSF beta in regulating trophoblast invasion and fetal development. Lack of MNSF beta led to restricted embryonic growth and fetal loss, primarily due to limited trophoblast invasion. Conjugation with IGF2BP2 stabilized the protein and promoted trophoblast invasion.

Summary: This study found that UCK2 is downregulated in the placenta of preeclampsia patients and mouse models. In vitro experiments showed that upregulation of UCK2 promotes the proliferation, migration, and invasion of trophoblast cells, while silence of UCK2 inhibits these cellular functions. Furthermore, the activation of the STAT3 pathway is involved in mediating the effects of UCK2 on trophoblast cells.

Summary: The study reveals that Nox2 deficiency facilitates angiogenesis by inhibiting the VEGF-A and STAT3 pathway, and reducing VEGF-A expression through inducing ROS production in pigs' vascular endothelial cells. The findings suggest that Nox2 could be a potential therapeutic target for increasing VEGF-A expression to promote angiogenesis, and also serve as a prognostic indicator for fetus with IUGR.

Summary: TBB, a compound extracted from Wedelia trilobata flowers, exhibits significant anti-tumor effects on HCC cells, inhibiting cell growth, inducing apoptosis, arresting cell cycle, and regulating protein expression levels. It effectively suppresses tumor growth in xenograft models without causing overt toxicity to healthy tissues.

Summary: Liver cancer is a common malignancy with drug resistance being a major challenge in treatment. This study demonstrates that Dihydrotanshinone (DHTS) can inhibit the growth of hepatocellular carcinoma by suppressing the JAK2/STAT3 signaling pathway, suggesting its potential as a chemotherapeutic agent.

Summary: This study investigated the role of the KDM5C-BMP-7 signaling pathway in the pathogenesis of severe preeclampsia (sPE). The results showed increased expression of KDM5C and decreased expression of BMP-7 and BMPRII in sPE patients. The study also suggested that nuclear-cytoplasmic translocation of KDM5C may regulate sPE through the BMP-7 pathway.

Summary: CKS1B acts as an oncogene in promoting the proliferation and metastasis of HCC cells by activating the JAK/STAT3 signaling pathway. Knockdown of CKS1B significantly inhibits the survival, proliferation, migration, and invasion of HCC cells, while inducing apoptosis. Additionally, knockdown of CKS1B inhibits the activation of the JAK/STAT3 pathway and downregulates STAT3 target genes involved in controlling cell apoptosis and migration.

Summary: The study found that Wnt signaling pathway genes in preeclamptic placentas were globally hypermethylated and identified WNT3 as the most significantly differentially expressed gene. WNT3 was highly expressed in preeclamptic placentas and counteracted the low activation state of the Wnt pathway through methylation modification.
