Summary: This study presents a simple electrochemical strategy to fabricate atomic Pt clusters on Au dendrites, resulting in a significantly reduced Pt loading. The prepared Pt/Au/CP sample exhibits high selectivity for formic acid oxidation reaction and maintains stable activity even after cycling tests.

Summary: This study investigates the activation of methane with nitric oxide on Au-Pt nanoparticles supported on alumina. The reaction produces HCN through C-H bond cleavage, NO dissociation, and C-N coupling reactions. The catalysts with different Au/Pt ratios have similar particle morphology and bulk properties but exhibit differences in electronic and geometric surface properties due to Au surface enrichment. The relative proportion of electron-deficient Pt sites on the catalysts' surface correlates with their activity for CH4 conversion and HCN formation.

Summary: A novel strategy of delivering nitric oxide (NO) for cancer chemotherapy was proposed using prodrug dimer self-assembly nanoparticles of NO donors, which significantly improved drug loading and delivery efficiencies, ultimately inducing tumor cell apoptosis. This approach opened up a new avenue for cancer chemotherapy and laid a theoretical basis for clinical translation of NO-based gas chemotherapy.

Summary: This study investigated the solvation of nanoclusters in ionic liquids using molecular dynamics simulations, showing that Pt and Au-Pt systems have higher solvation energies, which decrease with increasing temperature but increase with increasing nanocluster size. The structure of nanoclusters remained stable at different temperatures, but became more spherical at higher temperatures, with the core-shell structure of (Au-Pt)309 nanocluster unchanged. Anions were found to be closer to nanocluster surfaces than cations, supporting the DLVO theory, while charge separation was not complete and dynamics results showed differences in self-diffusion values among different metals.

Summary: Multi-element materials, specifically Pt and Ni, are combined on self-assembled gold nanochains to improve biosensing ability and develop a detailed understanding of each element's role in dopamine oxidation. The synthesis process also provides a simple way to fabricate multi-element composites for electrocatalytic applications. Optimization of the catalyst's performance parameters is achieved by changing the relative ratios and morphology of Pt and Ni domains, with the morphology also affecting the oxidation state of Ni.

Summary: Bimetallic Au@Pt/Au NPs with triple-layered core-shell structure were successfully prepared and characterized. The single Au@Pt/Au NPs exhibited size-dependent properties for vol-tametric response and electron-transfer rate, and showed excellent electrocatalytic activity, long-term tolerance, and anti-toxicity compared with traditional Pt catalyst. This work provides new insight into conventional electrocatalysis and offers a platform for designing entirely new catalysts at single NPs level.

Summary: Periodic assembly of Pt-Au Janus nanoparticles assisted by peptide T7 was used to create one-dimensional Pt-Au nanowires with periodic alternating Pt and Au nanoblocks. The Pt-Au NWs exhibited significantly improved performance, with 5.3 times higher specific activity and 2.5 times higher mass activity in methanol oxidation reaction (MOR) compared to commercial Pt/C catalyst. Furthermore, the periodic heterostructure enhanced the stability of Pt-Au NWs in MOR, with Pt-Au NWs retaining 93.9% of their initial mass activity, much higher than commercial Pt/C (30.6%).

Summary: Pt-coated Au nanoparticles exhibited higher uptake and cytotoxicity in human breast cancer cells compared to non-cancerous cells. The nanoparticles induced oxidative stress and loss of mitochondrial membrane potential. These findings suggest the potential of Pt-Au nanoparticles as a promising option for cancer therapy.

Summary: This study reports a subtle surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) substrate for detecting the dithiocarbamate fungicide Thiram. By controlling the inter-particle spacing of gold-silver-gold nanoparticles, a remarkable enhancement of Raman signal and stability was achieved. This method holds potential for rapid assessment and identification of pesticides on foods.

Summary: By utilizing noncovalent peptide assembly, we have successfully synthesized and characterized various thiols-containing frameworks with different positions and permutations. The structures of these frameworks were determined using single-crystal X-ray diffraction, revealing their sequence-structure landscape and the cooperative noncovalent interactions involved in their assembly. These peptide-based thiol frameworks have diverse functionalities and undergo single-crystal-to-single-crystal reactions, making them suitable for various applications including metal ion coordination and redox transformations.

Summary: Twelve new hybrid compounds of Esculetin with nitric oxide (NO) donors and/or mitochondrial targeting groups were designed, synthesized, and evaluated for their anti-tumor activity and mechanism in vitro and in vivo. The most potent compound A11 exhibited nanomolar antiproliferative activity on triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) MDA-MB-231 cells, with a selective inhibitory effect. The mechanism involved mitochondrial targeting, releasing a high concentration of NO, increasing the expression of CypD, and triggering cancer cell apoptosis through increased ROS production, along with cell cycle arrest at the G2/M phase. Moreover, A11 demonstrated superior TNBC inhibition rate and reduced toxicity compared to doxorubicin (DOX) in vivo.
