Summary: Hsa-miR-599 expression is downregulated in breast cancer tissues and cells, and is negatively correlated with TNM stage and lymph node metastasis. Enhanced hsa-miR-599 expression in breast cancer cells inhibits cell proliferation, migration, and invasion, and promotes cell apoptosis. Hsa-miR-599 may target BRD4 and inhibit breast cancer progression by targeting the Jagged1/Notch1 pathway.

Summary: This study aimed to identify miRNA biomarkers for the progression of melanoma. Differentially expressed miRNAs between different stages of melanoma were analyzed and a miRNA-gene network was constructed. Prognostic miRNAs were identified, and clustering and immune cell analysis were performed. The findings suggest that certain miRNAs and immune cells play important roles in the pathogenesis of melanoma.

Summary: miR-27b is highly expressed in endothelial cells and plays a crucial role in regulating inflammatory pathways, cell cycle, apoptosis, and mitochondrial oxidative imbalances. miR-27b mimic can counteract the cytotoxicity and inflammation caused by TNF-alpha, as well as restore mitochondrial function. Mechanistically, miR-27b targets FOXO1 to achieve its functions.

Summary: Cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs) in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) have downregulated expression of hsa-miR-101-3p and hsa-miR-490-3p, which target TGFBR1. The downregulation of these miRs and high TGFBR1 expression are associated with poor prognosis in HCC patients. TGFBR1 expression is also correlated with infiltration of immunosuppressive immune cells.

Summary: Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women worldwide, with multiple molecular subtypes. The activation of inflammatory processes plays a crucial role in the progression of breast cancer. Reactive oxygen species (ROS) and microRNAs (miRNAs) have dual effects in breast cancer, and understanding their interplay may lead to new therapeutic opportunities.

Summary: Early HCC diagnosis is challenging, especially for AFP-negative cases. miRNA profiles may serve as potential molecular markers for HCC. This study aimed to evaluate the expression levels of four miRNAs (hsa-miR-21-5p, hsa-miR-155-5p, hsa-miR-192-5p, and hsa-miR-199a-5p) as biomarkers for HCC in CHCV patients with liver cirrhosis, particularly AFP-negative HCC cases.

Summary: This study highlights the role of hsa-miR-21-5p in regulating pro-inflammatory genes in CHPV-infected human microglial cells. Upregulation of hsa-miR-21-5p during CHPV infection leads to downregulation of PTEN and subsequent phosphorylation of AKT and NF-kappa Bp65 in microglial cells. Overexpression of hsa-miR-21-5p further promotes AKT and NF-kappa Bp65 phosphorylation, while inhibition of hsa-miR-21-5p restores expression levels.

Summary: The treatment of brain tumors, especially glioblastoma multiforme (GBM), remains challenging. Both intra- and inter-tumor heterogeneity contribute to resistance and tumor recurrence. However, the discovery of non-coding RNAs, such as microRNAs and long non-coding RNAs, has shed light on their potential to regulate tumor growth and improve therapeutic outcomes. Combining these non-coding RNAs with chemotherapeutic compounds and suicide genes offers an innovative therapeutic approach for managing GBM.
