Summary: Individuals who suffer from post-CA brain injury often face higher mortality and severe functional disability. Neuroinflammation plays a critical role in cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury (CIRI) following cardiac arrest. This study found that Chrysophanol, a compound found in Rhubarb, has strong anti-inflammatory properties and can protect against CIRI-induced pyroptotic cell death. The findings suggest that Chrysophanol postconditioning inhibits NLRP3-related pyroptosis in a TRAF6-dependent manner, providing a potential therapeutic target for post-CA brain injury.

Summary: Emodin has been found to have potent anti-inflammatory effects and may protect against Ischemia-reperfusion injury (IRI) in various organs. This study evaluated the effects of Emodin on pyroptosis in spermatogenic cells and its role in the process of testicular IRI. The results showed that Emodin inhibited inflammation and pyroptosis by acting on NLRP3 and could be a potential treatment for testicular IRI.

Summary: This study demonstrated that CREAE and CA can reduce myocardial infarct size, improve cardiac function, alleviate myocardial damage, and suppress inflammatory response in rats after ischemia/reperfusion injury. Mechanistically, CREAE and CA significantly inhibit the activation of NLRP3 inflammasome and subsequent cardiomyocyte pyroptosis in myocardial tissues.

Summary: Ischemia-reperfusion injury (IRI) is a crucial factor in liver transplantation, and the activation of hepatic macrophages, especially NLRP3 inflammasome, plays a significant role in the progression of IRI. The NLRP3 inflammasome pathway in hepatic macrophages is highly expressed and may lead to liver IRI, making it a potential therapeutic target.

Summary: This study investigates the potential role of perindopril as a chemosensitizer agent to sorafenib. The results show that perindopril decreases liver enzymes, preserves liver architecture, and significantly enhances the antineoplastic, antiangiogenic, and antimetastatic effects of sorafenib. These effects are associated with the downregulation of the leptin/Wnt/ss-catenin pathway and the overexpression of ALDH1.

Summary: Potassium bromate (KBrO3) is toxic to human organs, mainly due to the generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and DNA damage. This study investigates the effects of ginkgo biloba extract (GBE) and extract loaded with nanogold particles (GBE@AuNPs) on KBrO3-induced hepatotoxicity. The results show that GBE, AuNPs, or GBE@AuNPs can reduce the hepatotoxic effects of KBrO3, with GBE@AuNPs being the most effective.

Summary: The prevalence of gastric ulcers, particularly those caused by non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), is increasing globally, highlighting the importance of prevention. This study investigated the gastroprotective effect of carbon monoxide (CO) released from its pharmacological donor (CORM2) and its nanoparticles (NPs) against indomethacin-induced ulcers. The results demonstrated that CORM2 and its NPs dose-dependently decreased ulcer score, pro-inflammatory indicators, and oxidative stress markers, with the NPs outperforming CORM2 in increasing beneficial factors.
