This study compared obstetric and perinatal outcomes between pregnancies conceived using IVF and natural pregnancies in the same women. The results showed that there were no significant differences in outcomes such as preterm birth, pregnancy-induced hypertension, and birth weight between IVF and natural pregnancies.
Objective: To compare obstetric and perinatal outcomes between pregnancies conceived using in vitro fertilization (IVF) and natural pregnancies of the same women. Design: This was a case-control study of deliveries between November 2008 and January 2020 in which each IVF pregnancy was matched to a natural pregnancy of the same woman (1:1 ratio). Setting: University hospital. Patient(s): We included women with consecutive live singleton deliveries (>24 weeks of gestation) at the Edith Wolfson Medical Center. We excluded IVF pregnancies attained using egg donation. Intervention(s): In vitro fertilization?attained pregnancies (as compared with natural ones). Main Outcome Measure(s): Primary outcome: preterm birth (PTB). Secondary outcomes: small for gestational age (SGA) neonates and pregnancy-induced hypertension (PIH; gestational hypertension or pre-eclampsia). Result(s): A total of 544 IVF pregnancies were matched to 544 natural pregnancies, each in the same woman. In 292 women (53.7%), the natural pregnancy preceded the IVF pregnancy. Maternal age was significantly higher in IVF deliveries. Gestational age at delivery and the rates of PTB, PIH, instrumental delivery, cesarean delivery, and SGA neonates were comparable between IVF and natural pregnancies. Birth weight was slightly lower in IVF pregnancies. On multivariate analysis, IVF was not independently associated with PTB, SGA, or PIH after adjustment for confounders. Conclusion(s): When compared in a cohort of the same women, natural and IVF-attained pregnancies did not differ with regard to obstetric and perinatal outcomes. Long term outcomes of laparoscopic sacro/colpo-hysteropexy with and without rectopexy for the treatment of prolapse

Ehud Grinstein, Yara Abdelkhalek, Nikolaus Veit-Rubin, Ohad Gluck, Bruno Deval

Summary: For 348 women who underwent combined laparoscopic repair, the success rate of surgery was 90.2%, with no significant difference in recurrence rates among groups. Significant improvement in satisfaction questionnaires was observed in all groups.

Summary: This study compares the perioperative and long-term outcomes of laparoscopic sacrohysteropexy/sacrocolpopexy in different age groups. The results show that there were no significant differences in operative details, perioperative complications, and long-term outcomes among the different age groups.

Long-term development of surgical outcome of laparoscopic sacrohysteropexy with anterior and posterior mesh extension

Zdenek Rusavy, Ehud Grinstein, Ohad Gluck, Yara Abdelkhalek, Bruno Deval

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the long-term durability and functional outcome of laparoscopic sacrohysteropexy (LSH). The results showed a gradual decrease in surgical success with increasing minimal follow-up time, while the rates of stress urinary incontinence, anal incontinence, and constipation decreased significantly. Regardless of minimal follow-up time, LSH had a positive long-term effect on quality of life.

Surgical intervention after medical treatment for early pregnancy loss according to gestational size

Ohad Gluck, Elad Barber, Ori Tal, Ram Kerner, Eran Weiner, Ron Sagiv

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the rate of surgical intervention in medical treatment for early pregnancy loss (EPL) based on gestational size measured by ultrasound. The study found that patients without an embryonic pole in the gestational sac had a lower rate of surgical intervention, while a gestational size greater than 9 weeks increased the risk of additional surgical intervention.

The Effect of Preemptive Local Infiltration on Postoperative Pain After Vaginal Hysterectomy: A Retrospective Study

Summary: The study aimed to investigate the effect of preemptive infiltration on postoperative pain and the use of analgesics after vaginal hysterectomy. A total of 120 patients who had undergone VH were included in the retrospective study. The results showed that preemptive infiltration group required a lower morphine dose in the recovery unit and less use of analgesia 24 hours after surgery. Evaluation: 7 points.

Failure Rate of Medical Treatment for Miscarriage Correlated with the Difference between Gestational Age According to Last Menstrual Period and Gestational Size Calculated via Ultrasound

Ohad Gluck, Elad Barber, Matan Friedman, Ohad Feldstein, Ori Tal, Ehud Grinstein, Yossi Mizrachi, Ram Kerner, Michal Saidian, Mai Menasherof, Ron Sagiv

Summary: The study aims to investigate the correlation between the interval between gestational age calculated using the last menstrual period (GA-LMP) and gestational age calculated via ultrasound (GA-US) and the success rate of medical treatment in cases of miscarriages. The results show that a longer GA-LMP to GA-US interval is independently correlated with a lower success rate of the medical treatment option for miscarriages.

Umbilical cord blood gases sampling in low-risk vaginal deliveries as a predictor of adverse neonatal outcome

Summary: There is no significant correlation between abnormal umbilical cord blood gas studies (UCGS) and adverse neonatal outcome in low-risk deliveries. Therefore, the routine use of UCGS in low-risk deliveries should be reconsidered.
