Summary: This study found that the level of lysophosphatidic acid (LPA) was increased in the peripheral blood of mice after myocardial infarction (MI), and the expression of its receptor LPA(2) was also increased in the heart. Deficiency of Lpar2 led to impaired heart function, increased scar size, and reduced vascular density. Mechanistic studies demonstrated that LPA-LPA(2) signaling promoted angiogenesis and maintained vascular homeostasis through multiple signaling pathways.

Summary: The optimal timing for aortic valve replacement in aortic stenosis patients is still controversial. This study found that electrocardiographic strain can serve as a marker for adverse left ventricular remodeling and myocardial fibrosis in severe AS patients. Lack of improvement in electrocardiographic strain following surgery indicates more advanced baseline LV injury and higher levels of myocardial fibrosis.

Summary: Salinomycin as an antifibrotic agent demonstrates potent anti-fibrotic activity in cardiac fibroblasts, prevents cardiac fibrosis and functional decline in mouse models of ischemic and nonischemic heart disease, and inhibits cardiac fibroblast activation by targeting p38/MAPK and Rho signaling. Moreover, salinomycin promotes cardiomyocyte survival and improves coronary vessel density, showing promise for the treatment of heart failure patients.

Summary: This study evaluated the predictive value of [Ga-68]Ga-DOTA-FAPI-04 PET/MR for late left ventricular remodeling in patients with ST-segment elevated myocardial infarction (STEMI). The results showed that the uptake volume of [Ga-68]Ga-DOTA-FAPI-04 at baseline can predict left ventricular remodeling at 12 months after STEMI. Compared to clinical information and other imaging parameters, [Ga-68]Ga-DOTA-FAPI-04 uptake volume demonstrated better predictive ability.

Summary: This study developed a Zn2SiO4 bioceramic that can release bioactive SiO32- and Zn2+ ions simultaneously, which have synergistic effects on promoting endothelial cell angiogenesis, inhibiting cardiomyocyte apoptosis, and protecting myocardial mitochondria against reactive oxygen species-induced injury. In vivo outcomes from a murine MI model demonstrated that systemic administration or local application of the Zn2SiO4 extract or composite hydrogel promoted cardiac function and reduced cardiac fibrosis, aiding myocardial repair.

Summary: The hexapeptide WKYMVm demonstrates antifibrotic and angiogenic effects in a rat model of bile duct ligation (BDL), showing a reduction in collagen type I and alpha-smooth muscle actin expression and an increase in angiogenetic factors. Furthermore, WKYMVm alleviates hepatic fibrosis by inhibiting hepatic stellate cell activation and promotes hepatic regeneration via vascular remodeling, making it a potential therapeutic agent for liver fibrosis.

Summary: Microglia/macrophages exhibit highly polarized responses after ischemia, with varying polarization patterns under different disease conditions. Post-conditioning with sevoflurane can provide long-term neuroprotection in neonatal rats after hypoxic-ischemic brain injury by regulating microglia autophagy and cathepsin B expression. This study demonstrates that SPC attenuates microglia polarization towards neurotoxic phenotypes post HIBI, ultimately improving long-term cognitive function and neuronal survival.

Summary: Chronic heart failure is a common cardiovascular disease with high mortality. Traditional Chinese medicine has been used as complementary treatment for CHF, with Guanxinshutong capsules commonly used for coronary heart disease. However, the effects of GXST as complementary medicine in CHF treatment lack high-quality clinical evidence. This study aims to explore the efficacy and safety of using GXST compared with a placebo for CHF patients with reduced LVEF.

Summary: Ischemic stroke is a common and serious disease, and neuroinflammation plays a crucial role in its progression. Microglia, astrocytes, and infiltrating immune cells are involved in the complicated neuroinflammation cascade, releasing different molecules that affect inflammation. Flavonoids, plant-specific compounds, have shown protective effects against cerebral ischemia injury by modulating the inflammatory responses.
