Summary: Proteins extracted from grape seeds can be used as stabilizers for modulating the quality features of red wines, with optimization involving factors such as pH, temperature, meal/water ratio, and extraction time. Removing phenolic compounds before protein extraction significantly increases the protein purity, making grape seeds a sustainable and cost-effective source for protein production in the oenological sector.

Summary: The optimization of extraction conditions for the antioxidant-rich extract from Ficaria Kochii plant was achieved using an ultrasound-assisted system and response surface methodology. The study found that the optimal conditions for extraction using methanol were a solvent-to-raw material ratio of 10%, an extraction time of 50 minutes, and an extraction temperature of 60 degrees C. Under these conditions, the extract had a total phenolic content of 46.379 mg gallic acid equivalents/g dry matter, a total flavonoid content of 11.754 mg quercetin equivalents/g dry matter, and an antioxidant activity of 89.548%. Similarly, the optimal conditions for extraction using water were a solvent-to-raw material ratio of 10%, an extraction time of 30 minutes, and an extraction temperature of 40 degrees C. The resulting extract had a total phenolic content of 51.112 mg gallic acid equivalents/g dry matter, a total flavonoid content of 4.331 mg quercetin equivalents/g dry matter, and an antioxidant activity of 97.004%. This study suggests that the antioxidant-rich extract from Ficaria Kochii could be used as a candidate for food antioxidants and for food storage.

Summary: In this study, wastewater from the Antibiotical-Saidal pharmaceutical plant was pretreated by coagulation-flocculation using copper sulfate (CuSO4), iron chloride (FeCl3), and a mixture of the two salts. Response surface methodology (RSM) and Gaussian process regression coupled with the dragonfly optimization algorithm (GPR-DA) were employed to optimize the treatment process and predict the reduction rates of dissolved organic carbon (DOC), absorbance at 254 nm (UV 254), and turbidity. The results showed that the mixed coagulant (CuSO4 + FeCl3) achieved superior treatment efficiency compared to using CuSO4 or FeCl3 alone.

Summary: This study aimed to extract TPCs efficiently from olive mill wastewater. The best extraction conditions were found to be using 80% ethanol at 25 degrees C and 2.5 bar, with a pH of 4. Temperature had the greatest impact on the extraction of TPC and TAA, while the pH factor had the least effect. The response surface method (RSM) proved to be a useful tool for assessing the ideal circumstances for phenolic component extraction.

Summary: In this study, the effect of waste engine oil (WEO) addition sequence on the properties of rubber asphalt was investigated by using specified control variates. The study found that premixing WEO and crumb rubber (CR) resulted in the best properties of low temperature, compatibility, and fluidity. Response surface methodology (RSM) was used to analyze the effects of WEO content, shear rate, shear temperature, and shear time on the properties of low viscosity rubber asphalt. The study provides an accurate method for determining the optimum preparation parameters of asphalt.
