Summary: Side chain isomerization significantly affects the intermolecular interaction and aggregation morphology of organic small molecule acceptors. In this study, two isomeric nonfused ring electron acceptors (NFREAs) were designed and synthesized with different pending positions of alkylthio side chains. The influence of pending positions on photophysical and photovoltaic properties were investigated. It was found that the specific pending position led to different absorption, molecular packing, and aggregation behavior, which ultimately affected the power conversion efficiency of the devices.

Summary: A series of glycidyl amine N-oxide polyethers were synthesized and evaluated for their KHI performance in high-pressure conditions. The study found that PGAOs with lower molecular weights showed better inhibition effects, and at higher molecular weights, the ring size had less impact on KHI performance.

Summary: A facile and mild solvothermal strategy was developed to synthesize highly crystalline red phosphorus using 1,2-diaminopropane as a nucleophilic agent. The dissolution-crystallization mechanism induced by the diamine was proposed to explain the phase transition of phosphorus from amorphous red phosphorus to crystalline red phosphorus. The structure of the crystalline red phosphorus was assigned as Form II RP by X-ray diffraction and other morphological characterization methods.

Summary: A series of side-chain anion exchange membranes were synthesized by grafting amino groups to poly(arylene ether ketone) and introducing imidazole cationic groups. These membranes exhibited excellent mechanical properties, thermal stability, and alkali stability, with swelling ratios below 10% even at 100 degrees C. The alkaline stability of Im-AP-6 was higher than 87% after immersion in 1 M NaOH at 60 degrees C for 168 hours. The side-chain membranes showed good comprehensive properties and can potentially be used as anion exchange membranes.

Summary: This study systematically compares the photothermal properties of two organic molecules and finds that the side chains of organic molecules have a significant impact on photothermal performance. Linear alkyl chains can increase the absorption onset wavelength and photothermal conversion efficiency, thereby enhancing photothermal properties.

Summary: This study synthesized two series of disperse red azo dyes using supercritical carbon dioxide dyeing, investigated the effects of electron withdrawing group position and alkyl chain length on dye performance, and tested the color fastness of the dyes on polyester fabrics. The results showed that the dye performance and color fastness were influenced by the position of functional groups and the length of alkyl chains.

Summary: An efficient and selective method for the [1,3] rearrangement of quinolin-2(1H)-ones has been developed using a chiral bisoxazoline/copper complex. The strategy allows for the synthesis of 1,4-dihydroquinoline-2,3-diones with a quaternary stereocenter and further cyclization to obtain optically active 3,4-dihydroquinolin-2-ones with broad substrate scope.

Summary: Site-specific functional polymers are synthesized by combining catalyst and chain transfer agent into one system, leading to well-defined polymers with catalytic labels. A novel dynamic network transfer mechanism of CTCOH was proposed, providing a new strategy for the synthesis of site-specific functional polymers.

Summary: Efficient agents for NIR-II fluorescence imaging in biomedicine and life science have been developed through side chain engineering of semiconducting polymers (SPs). The optimization of fluorescence by tuning the conformation and bulk of side chains, particularly using bulky branched side chains, has been shown to enhance fluorescence intensity and improve photothermal therapy efficacy. The study proposes a feasible molecular guideline for amplifying the NIR-II brightness of SPs for enhanced phototheranostics.

Summary: This study investigated the presence of phenolic compounds derived from four Solanaceae fruits during gastrointestinal digestion and their effect on human gut microbiota. The results showed that the total phenolic content of all Solanaceae fruits increased during digestion. Different phenolic compound profiles were found among the fruits, with pepino and tamarillo having higher bioaccessibility of phenolic acids and flavonoids, respectively. Goldenberry fruits showed the best effect in decreasing the Firmicutes/Bacteroidetes ratio and tamarillo promoted the growth of Bifidobacterium and short-chain fatty acids production. This study provided valuable information to promote the consumption of Solanaceae fruits as functional foods for gut health.

Summary: In this study, it was found that red-light irradiation can promote the red coloration and increase the pelargonidin-based anthocyanins in postharvest strawberries. It was also discovered that red light can regulate the accumulation of pelargonidin-based anthocyanins through the ABA-related pathway.

Summary: This article reports the development of two highly active and noncalcemic analogues of 1,25D3 that lack the C-ring and possess an m-phenylene ring that replaces the natural D-ring. The new compounds are noncalcemic and show transcriptional and antiproliferative activities similar to 1,25D3. Structural analysis revealed that they induce a large conformational rearrangement of the vitamin D receptor around helix 6.

Summary: A series of homoleptic and heteroleptic imine and amine Schiff-base tin(ii) complexes were synthesized and characterized, with the complexes containing pyridyl side arms exhibiting unusual cyclodimerization and ligand dimerization. The amine Schiff-base tin(ii) complexes were found to be active for the ring-opening copolymerization of succinic anhydride and cyclohexene oxide, producing highly alternating poly(SA-alt-CHO) at 110 degrees C.

Summary: The base-promoted intramolecular aldol condensation of diastereomeric Michael adducts of levoglucosenone and cyclododecanone yields a mixture of three diastereomers of 12-hydroxy-14,20-dioxatetra-cyclo[9.6.1.1(12)(,17).1(13,16)]icosan-18-one. These products show promise for synthesizing 14-membered macrocyclic compounds, including cembranoids and their analogues.

Summary: Chiral 2-trichloromethyloxazolines were synthesized from levoglucosenone and annulated to a carbohydrate fragment. The compounds were converted to 4-substituted 3-amino-1,6-anhydro-3-deoxy-beta-D-marmopyranoses by acid hydrolysis. Intramolecular amination of allyl trichloroacetimidates was used to construct the oxazoline ring. It was found that trichloroacetimidates with an epoxide ring undergo recyclization to form the oxazoline ring spontaneously.
