Summary: Cost-effectiveness analyses of treatments for glioblastoma multiforme have shown that models using time invariant transition probabilities tend to underestimate overall survival gain, while models incorporating Partitioned Survival approach can provide more accurate estimates of cost-effectiveness. The differences in economic model outputs between the two approaches suggest the need for more realistic estimations of costs and benefits in time invariant transition probability models.

Summary: This study evaluated the cost-effectiveness and utility of posttransplant hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) surveillance compared to standard follow-up. Although surveillance slightly improves survival and quality of life, it also increases costs and does not appear to be cost-effective in this setting.

Summary: This study investigated the cost-effectiveness of low-dose rivaroxaban plus aspirin versus aspirin alone in patients with stable cardiovascular diseases in China. The results showed that low-dose rivaroxaban combined with aspirin therapy may be cost-effective in the secondary prevention of stable cardiovascular disease in patients.

Summary: Influenza vaccination is cost-effective for the Sri Lankan population, reducing cases, hospitalizations, and deaths caused by influenza. The most influential factors are vaccine coverage and effectiveness in different age groups. Providing influenza vaccines is highly cost-effective compared to not vaccinating. However, more large-scale national studies are needed to improve data and assess the impact of vaccination implementation.

Summary: The study assessed the clinical prognosis and cost-effectiveness of treatments for lupus nephritis (LN) in China. The strategy of CYC induction followed by AZA maintenance was found to be the most cost-effective for short-term treatment, while the strategy of MMF in both induction and maintenance became cost-effective and yielded better clinical outcomes for lifetime treatment. Uncertainty analysis supported the need for monitoring the progression to end-stage renal disease (ESRD).

Summary: This study evaluated the cost-effectiveness of initial atezolizumab monotherapy versus chemotherapy for advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients in the Chinese healthcare system. The results showed that atezolizumab was less cost-effective than chemotherapy in China, and reducing drug prices may improve its cost-effectiveness.

Summary: The study finds that removing microplastics from wastewater is technically feasible and cost-effective, with the use of a membrane bioreactor combined with sludge incineration being the most efficient option. This provides a basis for expanding government regulation to include microplastics in wastewater treatment plants, but policy targeting companies using microplastics is necessary to ultimately solve the problem.

Summary: This systematic review aimed to identify the extent of cost-effectiveness evidence available for evaluating alternative Maternity Models of Care (MMC) and provide a narrative summary. The findings suggest weak evidence that midwife and doula models of care may be a cost-effective or cost-saving alternative to standard care. However, the poor quality of evidence, lack of standardized MMC classifications, and limited research in this area hinder conclusive evaluation.

Summary: Gathering patient-level health economic data is crucial for technology appraisal in clinical trials. Analyzing cost-effectiveness for end-of-life treatments may require partitioned survival analysis and combining quality of life measures for pre- and postprogression periods. Addressing complexities in effectiveness and cost data is important in order to avoid biased results, and a new Bayesian framework is proposed in this article to provide more adequate evidence for policy makers.

Summary: The cost-effectiveness of a booster strategy for COVID-19 vaccination in older adults in the United States was evaluated. The results show that offering a booster dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine to older adults can result in cost savings in direct medical costs and improve quality-adjusted life-years. The cost-effectiveness of the booster strategy is sensitive to the population incidence of COVID-19 and vaccine efficacies.

Summary: The study found that no further surveillance after the first normal human chorionic gonadotropin is the most cost-effective strategy for both complete and partial molar pregnancy due to the rarity of gestational trophoblastic neoplasia diagnosis after normalization. The costs of lost wages from societal perspective have greater impact on frequent surveillance costs than rare gestational trophoblastic neoplasia treatment costs. It would be reasonable to reduce or eliminate current recommendations for surveillance after human chorionic gonadotropin normalization after molar pregnancy.

Summary: This study evaluated the cost-effectiveness of adding selexipag to the combined treatment of macitentan and tadalafil in patients with pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) in China. The results showed that adding selexipag increased costs but also improved quality-adjusted life years (QALYs), although the cost-effectiveness ratio was higher than the willingness-to-pay (WTP) threshold. The sensitivity analysis indicated that the results were most sensitive to mortality rates, discount rate, and the cost of selexipag.
