Summary: The study revealed that functionalized NFC exhibited low toxicity in human cells and did not induce genotoxic effects. Among all NFCs, nonfunctionalized and carboxymethylated NFCs were able to increase intracellular ROS formation. However, this did not result in DNA or chromosome damage.

Summary: This study conducted biomarker analysis to characterize occupational exposure to Cr(VI). The results showed significantly increased genotoxicity and oxidative stress levels in workers exposed to Cr(VI), despite low levels of exposure. Unexpectedly, workers from within the company also displayed DNA and chromosomal damage. The study highlights the need for re-evaluation of occupational exposure limits and better protection measures.
