Summary: Carbon-silica based acid catalysts derived from rice husks were successfully synthesised using microwave technology, showing high catalytic activity for esterification reactions. The catalysts demonstrated a gradual decrease in yield with each reusability due to potential leaching of active groups. Additionally, esterification of free fatty acids recovered from palm oil mill effluent achieved a conversion rate of 87.3%.

Summary: The study found that an adequate amount of water content in the reactant mixture is effective for improving the transesterification reaction and, in turn, the fluid characteristics of biodiesel. Biodiesel made from raw oil with 0.05 wt.% water content added displayed the lowest water content, acid value, and CFPP, therefore showing superior fluidity at low temperatures. The optimal initial water content added to palm oil for superior fluid characteristics of biodiesel is suggested to be between 0.02 wt.% and 0.05 wt.%.

Summary: This study investigated the formation of glyceryl esters and 3-monochloropropane-1,2-diol esters in palm oil, and determined the optimal degumming process conditions using central composite design experiments and Response Surface Methodology. The results showed that the acid degumming process effectively removed phosphorus and hydroperoxide content without compromising the quality of palm oil.

Summary: Interspecific hybrids of African and American palms produce high-oleic palm oil with low saturated fatty acid content. However, low viability of hybrid pollen requires assisted pollination. Exogenous application of plant growth regulators can induce parthenocarpic fruits, with NAA treatment resulting in improved fruit set and oil quality.

Summary: Biodiesel fuels are comprised of a mixture of different fatty acid esters, which have significant effects on combustion and storage. This study reviews the available experimental data on density and viscosity of fatty acid methyl, ethyl, and butyl esters and identifies gaps in the literature. The research includes 16 different esters from three ester families and provides an overview of generalized models for describing density and viscosity at elevated pressures.

Summary: This research presents a 5-step chemical reaction and modifications to convert triglyceride of jatropha and soybean oils to biolubricant. The process involves saponification, hydrolysis, urea crystallization, epoxidation, epoxide ring opening, and esterification. The synthesized biolubricant basestocks appear to be suitable for a hydraulic fluid application.

Summary: The study focused on investigating the impact of different temperatures on the redox peaks of rifampicin in human blood medium, revealing an enhancement of peaks at 36 degrees Celsius. By applying the Arrhenius equation, the activation energy values for oxidative and anti-oxidative peaks were determined to be 9.252 and 11.026 kJ.mol-1.K-1 respectively. The experimental results shed light on the oxidative stress of the drug in inflammatory blood conditions at varying temperatures.
