ISSN / eISSN
2212-9820 / 2212-9839
Aims and Scope
The Journal of CO2 Utilization offers a single, multi-disciplinary, scholarly platform for the exchange of novel research in the field of CO2 re-use for scientists and engineers in chemicals, fuels and materials.

The emphasis is on the dissemination of leading-edge research from basic science to the development of new processes, technologies and applications. This includes CO2 as a feedstock in the chemical, energy and materials sectors, and utilization in general to help minimize environmental impact.

The Journal of CO2 Utilization publishes original peer-reviewed research papers, reviews, and short communications, including experimental and theoretical work, and analytical models and simulations.

The coverage includes, but is not limited to:
• Materials for CO2 activation and adsorption

• Heterogeneous and homogeneous catalytic reactions involving CO2

• CO2 conversion to generate synthetic fuels, polymers, organic carbonates, and intermediate products.

• Supercritical CO2 utilization in natural product extraction, catalysis and separation

• Use of CO2 as an oxidant

• Electrochemical and photo-electrochemical conversion of CO2

• Photo-electrochemical, photo-thermal and photochemical conversion of CO2

• Biological conversion of CO2

• Integrated processes for CO2 conversion and reduction

This journal welcomes contributions that support and advance the UN's sustainable development goals, in particular SDG 7 (Affordable and clean energy) and SDG 13 (Climate Action)

Two months after submission, I received feedback from five reviewers. I made four revisions according to their suggestions. The editor requested a major revision, which took me two months to complete. After two months, I resubmitted the revised manuscript and it went through another round of review, lasting over two months. I received feedback from three reviewers this time. After making two more revisions, the manuscript was rejected by one of the reviewers who doubted the feasibility of my experimental setup. The editor ultimately decided to reject it. It took me nearly half a year in total, and the response to the review comments was even longer than the actual content of the manuscript. I have decided not to submit to this journal again.

Submitted on April 7, 2021.
Received review comments on May 1, 2021. Four reviewers, two of whom highly praised the manuscript, while one of the other two reviewers raised very stringent questions, demanding a rewrite of the results and discussion section. Minor revisions were suggested by the editor.
Returned on May 21, 2021, and accepted on the 24th.
The journal efficiency is very high, probably due to the alignment of research direction with the journal. Many thanks to the editor and reviewers!
