Aims and Scope
Water Research has an open access mirror journal Water Research X, sharing the same aims and scope, editorial team, submission system and rigorous peer review. Water Research publishes refereed, original research papers on all aspects of the science and technology of water quality and its management worldwide. A broad outline of the journal's scope includes:
-Treatment processes for water and wastewaters, municipal, agricultural and industrial, including residuals management.
-Water quality monitoring and assessment, based on chemical, physical and biological methods.
-Studies on inland, tidal or coastal waters and urban waters, including surface and ground waters, and point and non-point sources of pollution.
-The limnology of lakes, impoundments and rivers.
-Solid and hazardous waste management, including source characterization and the effects and control of leachates and gaseous emissions.
-Environmental restoration, including soil and groundwater remediation.
-Analysis of the interfaces between sediments and water, and water/atmosphere interactions.
-The application of mathematical modelling and system analysis techniques.
-Public health and risk assessment.
-Socio-economic studies.
Audience:
Biologists, chemical engineers, chemists, civil engineers, environmental engineers, limnologists and microbiologists.

08.10 Under review
09.07 Major revision (Two reviewers: one major, one minor; there were no major issues with the content, the major reviewer mainly wanted me to clarify the research problem and novelty of my study, specifically what problem my research is addressing and what conclusions are new compared to previous studies. This indicates that a WR article must clearly define the problem and have novel conclusions!!)
10.07 Resubmission after major revision
11.15 Accepted (The major reviewer proposed that after further review, the manuscript can be accepted. So, I asked another reviewer who agreed that the manuscript had addressed all the previous suggestions, and recommended acceptance.)

About a week after submission in October 2020
Received review comments in December 2020 from two reviewers, both provided professional feedback, including suggestions on the graphical abstract, highlights, and every step of the work.
Returned for the first round of revisions in January 2021, took a month in total. It was a tight timeline as it required major revisions, and the final response submission was over forty pages without enough time for language polishing.
Received second round of review comments a week later in January 2021. One reviewer agreed, while the other had some questions and suggestions.
Returned on February 4, 2021, with approximately 16 pages of carefully revised responses. Language polishing was done by a professional company this time.
Accepted on February 6, 2021.
Overall, the journal WR (name not provided) was very professional. This was my first paper, and both the reviewers and editors were diligent and responsible. The timeline was short, but the journal still requires innovation. The revision process must be taken seriously.
