As a well-established journal in the field of Earth and Marine Science, Marine Chemistry has a high international recognition with an impact factor of 3.8. Most of the influential researchers in the field of marine studies who publish in Nature have a Master of Arts degree, and their H-index is 114. Despite being highly regarded, Marine Chemistry is classified as a second-tier journal in the category of Earth Science by the Chinese Academy of Sciences, which is puzzling.
