Aims and Scope
The Journal of Physical Chemistry (JPC) Letters is devoted to reporting new and original experimental and theoretical basic research of interest to physical chemists, biophysical chemists, chemical physicists, physicists, material scientists, and engineers. An important criterion for acceptance is that the paper reports a significant scientific advance and/or physical insight such that rapid publication is essential.

This journal, when I submitted my manuscript in early June, received a score of 8. At that time, the impact factor had not yet depreciated. In July, when it was accepted, the new impact factor was released, and it dropped to 7. This year, all journals are experiencing inflation, and this journal dropped again from 6.7 to 6.3. I can't believe it. Roughly estimating, next year's impact factor will be around 5.7. Despite this decrease, the journal continues to increase its publication volume, while the total citation count remains the same. Based on the publication volume from five years ago, the impact factor will soon return to 8. I guess ACS intends to position it as a second-tier journal, stabilizing around 5 in the future.

Posted on July 12th, received feedback on August 4th, made two minor revisions and one major revision. After making the revisions based on the minor feedback, resubmission for review was not required and it was accepted. The feedback for the major revision was also positive and it was sent back on the 11th and accepted on the 19th. Overall, the speed was fast and the reputation of JPCL is still good. However, recently the impact factor has not kept up. I hope it can return to the ranks of the first zone of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
