Aims and Scope
The American Journal of Botany (AJB), the flagship journal of the Botanical Society of America (BSA), publishes peer-reviewed, innovative, significant research of interest to a wide audience of plant scientists in all areas of plant biology (structure, function, development, diversity, genetics, evolution, systematics), all levels of organization (molecular to ecosystem), and all plant groups and allied organisms (cyanobacteria, algae, fungi, and lichens). AJB requires authors to frame their research questions and discuss their results in terms of major questions of plant biology. In general, papers that are too narrowly focused, purely descriptive, natural history, broad surveys, or that contain only preliminary data will not be considered.

Verified Reviews
Note: Verified reviews are sourced from across review platforms and social media globally.
Classic journals in the field of botany, with a history of over a hundred years, publish approximately 150 articles per year. The rejection rate is around 80-85%. The initial review process is relatively fast, with feedback for major revisions provided within two to three months. After submitting the revised manuscript, minor revisions are typically requested within a month. It takes another month for the revised manuscript to be accepted. The publication process is slow, with online publication occurring six months after acceptance. Both the editor-in-chief and the associate editor encountered during the submission process were very helpful. The overall communication throughout the submission process was very pleasant.
