Aims and Scope
About the journal
Genome Biology and Evolution (GBE) publishes leading original research at the interface between evolutionary biology and genomics. Papers considered for publication report novel evolutionary findings that concern natural genome diversity, population genomics, the structure, function, organisation and expression of genomes, comparative genomics, proteomics, and environmental genomic interactions. Major evolutionary insights from the fields of computational biology, structural biology, developmental biology, and cell biology are also considered, as are theoretical advances in the field of genome evolution. GBE’s scope embraces genome-wide evolutionary investigations at all taxonomic levels and for all forms of life — within populations or across domains. Its aims are to further the understanding of genomes in their evolutionary context and further the understanding of evolution from a genome-wide perspective.

The former sister journal of GB has gradually declined. Now, it's embarrassing to put it on a resume.
This magazine used to have a good reputation internationally and it was prestigious to present at conferences. The review process used to take more than three months, and the opinions of the reviewers were also very professional.
Recently, a student came and said they wanted to flood this magazine with low-quality submissions. I came to check and then went to the official website to take a look. It turns out that there have been so many submissions from Chinese authors, no wonder the quality has deteriorated. Maybe this magazine is now focused on making money, its original intention has changed.

Belonging to a well-established journal in the field of genomics, it is classified as a second-tier journal by the Chinese Academy of Sciences. The overall manuscript processing speed is relatively fast, but strict language requirements are imposed. Manuscripts need to undergo professional editing before being considered for peer review.
