Aims and Scope
Fuel Processing Technology (FPT) deals with the scientific and technological aspects of converting fossil and renewable resources to clean fuels, value-added chemicals, fuel-related advanced carbon materials and by-products. In addition to the traditional non-nuclear fossil fuels, biomass and wastes, papers on the integration of renewables such as solar and wind energy and energy storage into the fuel processing processes, as well as papers on the production and conversion of non-carbon-containing fuels such as hydrogen and ammonia, are also welcome. While chemical conversion is emphasized, papers on advanced physical conversion processes are also considered for publication in FPT. Papers on the fundamental aspects of fuel structure and properties will also be considered.

The text is a review article that was submitted on March 8, 2021. During the submission process, two journals, Fuel and Energy Conversion and Management, suggested that the article be submitted elsewhere, which made the author feel upset. The author then tried submitting it to Renewable and Sustainable Energy Reviews, but had to wait for a long time (over a month) and the status remained "with editor." After sending an email to inquire, the response stated that their work efficiency had greatly decreased due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and suggested that if the author was in a hurry, they could submit the article elsewhere. Not wanting to wait any longer, the author tried submitting it to FPT. The article was received on April 20, 2021, received in revised form on July 7, 2021, and accepted on July 7, 2021. The process involved being "with editor" within a week of submission, then going through the "under review" stage. Each of the four reviewers provided around ten questions, with one reviewer's questions being emphasized by the editor as requiring serious answers. During this period, the article was extensively revised, including providing more detailed descriptions, redrawing images, adding table data, adding a small section, and proofreading the entire manuscript. After the first resubmission, a long waiting period followed. Then, after the second resubmission, there were only four or five minor issues, which were addressed and the article was accepted on the same day. The author was very happy about this outcome!

The handling editor is Professor Fabrizio Scala, who is very efficient. Thank you, Professor Fabrizio Scala. Fuel Processing Technology is also a well-established journal in the field of energy and fuels, known for its good article quality. The difficulty of submission is moderate to high. The impact factor has already reached 6.8 and is expected to reach the top quartile soon.
