Aims and Scope
Structure, Function and Interactions

International Journal of Biological Macromolecules is an established international journal of research into chemical and biological aspects of all natural macromolecules. It presents the latest findings of studies on the molecular structure and properties of proteins, macromolecular carbohydrates, glycoproteins, proteoglycans, lignins, biological poly-acids, and nucleic acids. These findings must be new and novel rather than a repeat of earlier or analogous published work. The scope includes biological activities and interactions, molecular associations, chemical and biological modifications, and functional properties. Papers on related model systems, structural conformational studies, theoretical developments and new analytical techniques are also welcome. All papers are required to focus primarily on at least one named biological macromolecule. This naming should appear in the title, the abstract and the text of the paper.

Examples of papers which are not appropriate for International Journal of Biological Macromolecules include:
papers where the biological macromolecule has not been characterized by modern analytical techniques (including molecular weight) rather than historical methods. e.g. colorimetric assays.
papers which focus on biological, physiological and pharmacological aspects of non-macromolecules attached to, or mixed with, biological macromolecules.
papers on the materials science of biocomposites where there is no mention of any specific biological macromolecule.
papers where the structure or role of the biological macromolecule is not the major proportion of the study.
routine studies of extraction of macromolecules without purification and characterization of the extracted molecule.
applications of macromolecules where the structure of the macromolecule is completely unknown.
papers where the molecular weight of the biological molecule is less than five thousand.
paper which are majorly about clinical studies and animal trials, where a biological macromolecule is not the biologically active agent, and/or the biological macromolecule is not the major focus of the study.

It's over. Let me talk about the journey of the Werewolf.
Overall, the journal review process was very fast. The total time was 2 months and 1 week. If it wasn't for our delay in revisions for a month, it would have been accepted within a month. It was touching and felt perfect. The editor and the editorial team were also very friendly. You will understand why I say this when you read my journey below. Also, please note that they required proteins with a molecular weight of at least 5000, and mine happened to be 6100.

1.26 - I submitted (I was stupid. I forgot to change the cover letter, and it still had the name of the previous journal. Fortunately, the editor didn't mind.)

1.27 - With editor (I quickly sent a letter requesting to change the CV)

1.28 - Under review (The CV hadn't been changed yet, but it went under review. It was really fast. It seems that submitting an article of good quality speeds up the process)

1.31 - The responsible person replaced my CV

2.29 - Major revision. They asked for a deep language revision. If there are similar suggestions, it's recommended to use the service provided by Elsevier.

3.28 - Revisions sent back. They gave me a month to make the changes, but I procrastinated until the last day to submit. And I forgot to submit supplementary materials. Luckily, the supplementary materials didn't contain anything important. The responsible person said they couldn't add it for now. I was furious.

3.29 - Under review. Sent back to the original reviewer for evaluation.

4.3 - Accepted. It's over. But I'm not pursuing a Ph.D., so this article is wasted. An article in a top-tier journal is worth at least 100,000 yuan now.

Submitted on the first day of the Lunar New Year, reviewed after a few days.
Received feedback on February 24th, from three reviewers: major revision, rejection, and editor suggested major revision.
Revised and resubmitted on March 20th. The reviewer who initially rejected it requested additional experiments, but I stubbornly refused and provided a bunch of other references that I didn't do. It turned out that being stubborn was a big mistake, and I deeply regret it.
Resubmitted on March 24th, second review on April 6th. The first two reviewers accepted it, but the one who rejected it still refused, claiming that my revisions were very poor. This was because of the additional experiments, so the editor suggested major revision.
Finally, completed the experiments and revisions on April 26th, and resubmitted after a few days.
Completed the review on May 6th and it was accepted on the same day!
Overall, it was a quick process. If it weren't for my stubbornness, it probably would have been accepted in just over a month.
