Aims and Scope

The pages of Ecological Applications are open to research and discussion papers that integrate ecological science and concepts with their application and implications. Of special interest are papers that develop the basic scientific principles on which environmental decision-making should rest, and those that discuss the application of ecological concepts to environmental problem solving, policy, and management. Papers that deal explicitly with policy matters are welcome. Interdisciplinary approaches are encouraged, as are short communications on emerging environmental challenges.

The sister journal of ESA, Ecology, is difficult to publish in if one is not a prominent figure in the mainstream ecological community. Very few people in China are able to get published in this journal every year. It has a significant influence in the ecological community in the United States, but unfortunately, it is categorized as a second-tier journal by the Chinese Academy of Sciences due to its traditional direction and lack of pursuit of hot topics. Its impact factor has been stagnant for a long time.

One of the three major journals of the Ecological Society of America. It is highly influential in the field of ecology, focusing on understanding and application rather than impact factor. Although it is classified as a second-tier journal by the Chinese Academy of Sciences, it is not easy to publish articles in it. The number of articles published by Chinese researchers on it each year does not exceed 3% of the total number of publications.
