The Energy Economics journal is becoming more and more rigorous. It used to be the top journal for energy economics, but now it's even scarier:

1. All submissions require a review fee, increasing the threshold and reducing the amount of junk submissions.
2. All articles must upload code and data for replication by reviewers and editors. I heard that someone was actually selected for replication during the submission process, but that person didn't cheat and eventually got published successfully.
3. Random checks on articles from the recent N years require authors to upload code and data for replication. If it's not possible, who knows what the consequences will be...

Anyway, when everyone submits to EE, they should weigh the pros and cons.

I was lucky enough to have one accepted, also because of the current state of the journal, so I simply "sold" my own method.

Posted on September 17, 2020, under review on September 22, 2020, received major revision on November 22, 2020. The comments provided were very professional, and both reviewers were very rigorous. They gave me half a year to make revisions, and I wasn't in a hurry to complete them. I slowly made the revisions while also being busy with other things. I submitted it again on March 17, 2021. In May, one of the reviewers had further comments, which required minor revisions. After completing the revisions, it was accepted in June. It is a highly reputable energy economics journal.
