The tropics lost 10% more primary rainforest in 2022 than in 2021, according to new data from the University of Maryland and available on WRI’s Global Forest Watch platform. At the national level, while primary forest loss ticked up in the two countries with the most tropical forest, Brazil and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, it rapidly increased in other nations like Ghana and Bolivia. Meanwhile, Indonesia and Malaysia have managed to keep rates of primary forest loss near record-low levels. https://research.wri.org/gfr/latest-analysis-deforestation-trends Where do you think is the main problem?

An interesting study of social media's influence on the behavior of young people. Social media use makes Generation Z more likely to have mental health issues. I am curious to know why the overuse of TikTok is associated with maladaptive behaviors. Is it because of a short attention span?

The State of the Climate in Europe 2022 report, produced by the World Meteorological Organization, shows how Europe has been warming twice as much as the global average since the 1980s, with far-reaching impacts on the region’s socio-economic fabric and ecosystems.
