It welcomes each summer individuals and developer teams from different backgrounds in earth sciences, like weather, climate, and atmosphere, computer sciences and software development, to innovate, collaborate and develop open-source software solutions. Code for Earth is supported by Copernicus and Destination Earth (DestinE). Learn more about Copernicus and DestinE. Since 2018, each summer, up to ten developer teams work together with experienced mentors from ECMWF and partner organisations on innovative projects related to Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning and applied data science. Code for Earth grants selected teams that successfully complete the projects a €5,000 stipend. This year’s edition will provide up to 13 challenges divided into two streams: - Research teams working on Software Development for Earth Science - Research teams working on Machine Learning for Earth Science They believe your students would be greatly inspired by our programme and benefit from learning about Code for Earth. To help interested applicants create successful proposals for the programme, Code for Earth is also hosting two Q&A webinars on 15. and 22. March.
