I know there is a company that monitors the sewers for COVID and one company that has a thermometer app to monitor the health or illness spread throughout the community. We are only limited by our imagination as to what the future of these devices can do. These devices will assist with individuals wanting to stay healthy as well as the spread of sickness throughout the community.
Nice start with the fibroblast cells the solidify the hypothesis in human cultured cells. Fantastic to see positive results in the mouse as well, extending its' life. I have always been amazed at the capability of your own cells to repair genetic issues.
This is just the abstract so you will need to go to the main article for further details. A straight forward approach to understanding a better treatment for not rejecting a transplanted heart. I am hopeful that eventually we will figure out how to produce organs in pigs for transplantation into humans that don't require immunosuppression. Sirolimus does show a significantly improved treatment for survival of the transplant in the patient. This study makes me want to dig in deeper as to how these treatments are different in their effects on the immune system.
Very interesting read. It stretched my college physics but I will have to go through it a couple more times. Understanding the energy use and production in our solar system allows for us to better utilize our own resources here on our planet.
I have been taught about global warming since I was in grade school. The data about how the ocean warmth is affecting the planet is scary. The article says if we make a dramatic reduction in green house gases we can reverse this trend. Talk about a long shot!
Great study with lots of data points, even if there wasn't a significance shown. Even though the differences were small in numbers, it is still convincing. If there would have been greater transmission rates in the population studied, the difference would have most likely been greater.
Being a cat owner as well as a scientist, I can picture some of the looks presented in this paper. Being a researcher using animals, it only enhances the research to understand your animals and their behavior. They show stress in specific ways or like a cat, show their comfort. As the author says, the study of feline communications is understudied. I would assume that is because felines are very independent by nature and lack the communication skills of a more pack oriented animal.
This is a new area of interest for me. It will take me a couple more reads to really understand the science but the significance is tremendous. The reliance of humanity of cheap polymer plastics has driven us to collect piles of this stuff that we can't get rid of. This is an exciting development that I can't wait to unfold.
When ever isolating RNA, please wipe down the space to destroy RNAse present in the area. Use appropriate tips and vessels which are RNAse free. I have been using kits for isolation of siRNA. Has anyone compared the processes using the kits to this methodology? I will be interested in giving it a try.
It is not a true surprise to find water on the moon. After all, the moon was once part of the earth. How the water survived the harsh environment is very interesting.
