Summary: IGF1 treatment induces an anti-inflammatory phenotype in bone marrow derived neutrophils and attenuates inflammation after myocardial infarction (MI). The effect of IGF1 is mediated through the JAK2/STAT6 pathway rather than the canonical Ras/Raf/ERK or PI3K/AKT pathway. Single cell sequencing analysis shows that IGF1 treatment downregulates pro-inflammatory genes and upregulates anti-inflammatory genes in neutrophils and macrophages after MI.

Summary: Most patients survive acute myocardial infarction, but the prevalence of heart failure is increasing, leading to economic strain on healthcare systems. Pathological changes in the heart significantly impact patient outcomes. Risk factors like diabetes, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and female sex can distinctively shape the progression towards heart failure.

Summary: The GH/IGF system plays a role in growth regulation in the body. By studying the basal chordate amphioxus, it was discovered that most members of the GH/IGF system are present in amphioxus, providing strong evidence for the origin of this system in amphioxus.

Summary: This study evaluated the efficacy of NP202, a synthetic flavonol, on cardiac remodelling in a chronic model of myocardial infarction (MI). Results showed that NP202 improved left ventricular function and structure, especially at a higher dose. NP202 also reduced hypertrophy and interstitial fibrosis in the non-infarct region of the myocardium.

Summary: Heart failure is a major cause of morbidity and mortality, and new treatments are urgently needed. Pathological ventricular remodelling, which involves changes in cardiac cellular composition, is a major antecedent of heart failure. Among the immune cell subpopulations involved, CCR2(+) macrophages play a crucial role in adverse remodeling.

Summary: This study assessed the expression of insulin-like peptides (ILPs) and ovary ecdysteroidogenic hormone (OEH) in Aedes aegypti during a gonadotrophic cycle and further functionally characterized these peptides to understand their roles in regulating egg formation. The results showed that all ILPs and OEH were expressed during the cycle, and there were differences in their biological activities and insulin- insulin growth factor signaling (IIS) phosphorylation levels.

Summary: The GH-IGF1 signaling pathway plays a key role in aging and longevity. Patients with LS, a congenital IGF1 deficiency, seem to be protected from cancer. Aging and cancer may be different manifestations of the same underlying processes. Genome-wide screenings have identified genes associated with aging and longevity in LS patients.

Summary: We propose a new three-dimensional constitutive model for describing the electro-visco-elastic-growth response on the myocardium. The model includes a fully implicit staggered solution procedure to handle the strong electromechanical coupling. It allows us to simulate and analyze the remodelling of actively contracting human ventricular heart models.

Summary: The IGF family of ligands, receptors, and binding proteins play critical roles in normal human physiology and disease states. IGF-I regulates cellular growth, differentiation, and survival to control overall body growth, while IGF-II has important effects prenatally and in tissue-specific roles in adults.

Summary: This study investigated the role of speckle-tracking echocardiography (STE) in predicting cardiac remodeling in STEMI patients after percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). The results showed that age, triglyceride level, and midmyocardial radial strain were risk factors for adverse remodeling, while increased initial twist decreased the chances of adverse remodeling.

Summary: This review examines the literature on the use of atrioventricular node ablation and pacing in heart failure and atrial fibrillation patients. It shows that this strategy improves symptoms and cardiac performance, but may have complications such as worsening heart failure, arrhythmias, and sudden death. Cardiac resynchronization therapy is the optimal treatment, while His bundle pacing and left bundle branch pacing are potential alternatives.
