Summary: This study explored the role of miR-142-3p in high myopia and its impact on the expression of collagen I in human scleral fibroblasts. The research found that miR-142-3p is overexpressed in the aqueous humor of high myopia patients and is positively correlated with ocular axial length. The experimental results showed that miR-142-3p overexpression reduced collagen I expression in human fetal scleral fibroblasts, while downregulation increased collagen I expression. Additionally, miR-142-3p was found to target TGF beta-1 gene expression.

Summary: This study found that tear concentrations of amphiregulin (AREG) are associated with the development of myopia, and AREG may play a role in scleral remodeling through the ERK1/2-MMP-2 pathway. Therefore, AREG could be a potential target for myopia control.

Summary: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of scleral collagen cross-linking (SXL) using riboflavin and ultraviolet A (UVA) light on the scleral thickness and expression of matrix metalloproteinase 2 (MMP-2) and membrane-type MMP-1 (MT1-MMP) in guinea pigs with lens-induced myopia. The results showed that SXL could slow myopia progression and thicken the cross-linked sclera in guinea pigs, which might be related to the downregulation of MMP-2 and MT1-MMP expression during the scleral remodeling process.

Summary: This study found that asthmatic patients had increased expression of TGF-beta RII in peripheral blood mononuclear cells and a suppressed release of TGF-beta after rhinovirus infection. Rhinovirus infection also activated Treg and NK cells.

Summary: This study found through a systematic review and meta-analysis that TGF-beta1 rs4803455 and rs1800469 are associated with myopia, while TGF-beta2 is not, and there is limited research on TGF-beta3 and myopia.

Summary: The study found that CRC patients with high GPC1 expression had poor overall survival, and GPC1 may promote proliferation and migration of CRC cells by influencing the TGF-beta 1 signaling pathway. Additionally, silencing GPC1 inhibited TGF-beta 1 levels and increased SMAD2 expression.

Summary: Estradiol, a main steroid hormone secreted by the ovaries, is crucial for maintaining normal female reproductive function;TGF-beta1 has been shown to stimulate aromatase expression and E2 production in ovarian granulosa cells through the involvement of SMAD2 and ERK1/2 signaling pathways.

Summary: Resorption and loss of alveolar bone can lead to oral dysfunction and tooth loss. Biomimetic delivery of growth factors based on stem cell recruitment and osteogenic differentiation has been a popular research area for alveolar bone regeneration. A self-healing hydrogel was developed, which can promote blood vessel formation, recruit stem cells, and facilitate bone tissue formation. The optimized formulation showed accelerated bone regeneration in an alveolar defect model. This research is of great significance for alveolar bone regeneration.

Summary: Myopia has become a critical global health issue due to increasing time spent indoors and genetic susceptibility. Pathological myopia can lead to complications such as retinal detachment and blindness. Signaling pathways such as dopamine and nitric oxide play crucial roles in the development of myopia.

Summary: CCN2 plays a role in both fibrotic responses and growth factor-induced oxidative and proinflammatory responses. Its coexistence with TGF-β is necessary for persistent fibrotic response, but the mechanisms involved are not fully understood. CCN2 increases T beta RII expression in VSMCs and maintains TGF-β pathway activation through an EGFR-SMAD dependent manner.

Summary: The study indicated that the genetic variants in the TGF-beta signaling pathway, specifically TGFB2-AS1/rs7550232 and TGFBR1/rs10760673, are associated with the onset and progression of myopia in Chinese school-aged children. The variants were found to impact the risk of myopia, axial length, and the ratio of axial length to corneal radius of curvature. Functional studies are needed to validate these findings further.

Summary: Restricting the timing and magnitude of CAR expression can be functionally beneficial, whereas constitutive CAR activation may lead to exhaustion. A self-driving CAR system has been created to regulate its own function based on the presence of a CD19 antigen engaged by the CAR itself.
