Summary: The study validated a self-reported questionnaire for differentiating periodontal health and various stages of periodontitis, showing moderate to high accuracy in identifying periodontal diseases and excellent performance in detecting Stages III/IV periodontitis when combined with demographic and lifestyle factors. Further studies are needed to test the validity in larger community-based populations.

Summary: Given the lack of accurate rapid diagnostics for UTI in women, guidelines have been developed to support appropriate antibiotic prescribing, but some guidelines have not been validated. A study was conducted to validate the diagnostic accuracy of two guidelines: Public Health England (GW-1263) and Scottish Intercollegiate Guidelines Network (SIGN160). The results demonstrate the potential for diagnostic error when using these guidelines for managing uncomplicated UTI and making antimicrobial prescribing decisions.

Summary: This study presents a case study that assesses the diagnostic accuracy equivalence between a shortened and full-length form using external data and individual participant data meta-analysis. The results show that the sensitivity of the shortened version is non-inferior to the full-length version, but the specificity is slightly smaller.

Summary: This study evaluates the accuracy of colposcopy in predicting LSIL+ and HSIL+ under the 2011 IFCPC terminology, and finds that colposcopy has improved accuracy in terms of both sensitivity and specificity according to the 2011 IFCPC terminology.

Summary: This study analyzed the performance of the CES-D scale in screening for major depressive disorder in adults, showing high sensitivity, specificity, and diagnostic accuracy in community-indwelling adults, patients with chronic diseases, and psychiatric patients. The CES-D can be recommended as a first-stage screener for MDD, leading to early intervention and disease prevention in adults at risk for depression.

Summary: This study evaluated the performance of four rapid diagnostic tests (RDTs) for Ebola virus disease (EVD) detection. The sensitivity of the RDTs did not meet the desired levels set by the World Health Organization, but the specificity was satisfactory. Among the RDTs evaluated, QuickNavi-EbolaTM and OraQuick(R) Ebola Rapid Antigen Test showed the most favorable profiles and can be used as frontline tests for screening suspected cases.

Summary: The study demonstrates that RT-LAMP has a diagnostic accuracy comparable to RT-qPCR in the early phase of COVID-19, until the 9th day after symptom onset. However, after the 10th day, the positivity rate of RT-LAMP significantly decreases, suggesting its limitations in diagnosing COVID-19 in later stages of the disease.

Summary: The study evaluated the diagnostic accuracy of NCCT markers in identifying hematoma expansion in patients with primary intracerebral hemorrhage, finding that the diagnostic accuracy of these markers remains suboptimal for implementation in clinical trials. This analysis may help in better tailoring patients' selection for hematoma expansion targeted trials.

Summary: Diagnosing celiac disease can be challenging, but targeted testing based on symptoms and genetic factors can improve case-finding rates. Some indicators may suggest a higher likelihood of having celiac disease.

Summary: The study validated the French version of the CBQp and found that individuals with different diagnoses score differently on cognitive biases, but those with different diagnoses may share similar cognitive biases. The results overall support the transdiagnostic presence of cognitive biases.

Summary: The FluChip-8G Insight demonstrated good sensitivity and specificity in detecting influenza A and B viruses in clinical samples from different countries. The assay showed high performance in specimens with Ct values less than 32 and in the absence of co-infection, providing a valuable tool for early detection and containment of novel influenza strains with pandemic potential in hotspot regions.

Summary: This study evaluated the diagnostic accuracy of a high-sensitivity cardiac troponin I assay in the Emergency Department. Absolute delta criteria showed superior accuracy compared to relative criteria. Using the Siemens TNIH assay in combination with validated algorithms incorporating specific cutoff values and absolute delta criteria can improve sensitivity in diagnosing acute myocardial infarction.
