Summary: Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is the most common endocrine disorder among women of reproductive age. The etiologies of this syndrome are complex and involve prenatal factors, genetic variation, epigenetic mechanisms, unhealthy lifestyles, and environmental toxins. This review examines the molecular mechanisms underlying PCOS pathogenesis at the level of signaling pathways and discusses potential therapies including exosome therapy, gene therapy, and drugs based on traditional Chinese medicine and natural compounds.

Summary: PCOS is a common disorder in women of reproductive age, affecting their physiology and metabolism, and often leading to metabolic syndrome and insulin resistance; Berberine can intervene in the development of PCOS in multiple ways, including alleviating insulin resistance, reducing androgen levels, regulating lipid metabolism, and reducing inflammation.

Summary: Polycystic ovary syndrome is an endocrine disorder characterized by hormonal imbalances and metabolic abnormalities linked to insulin resistance. Nutrition, specifically carbohydrate intake, has a significant impact on the development and complications of the syndrome. High glycemic index and glycemic load diets exacerbate insulin resistance, while low-glycemic index and low-glycemic load diets improve insulin sensitivity and decrease the risk of comorbidities associated with polycystic ovary syndrome. This review aims to explore the association between nutrition, particularly glycemic index and glycemic load, and the various aspects of the syndrome.

Summary: This study analyzed the association between leptin and polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). The results showed that serum leptin levels were significantly higher in patients with PCOS and were associated with multiple metabolic markers. Combined detection of leptin and anti-Mullerian hormone (AMH) had high accuracy in diagnosing PCOS.

Summary: PCOS is an endocrine-gynecology disorder affecting women of childbearing age, with incomplete understanding of its etiology and pathophysiology. Lifestyle modifications and alternative medicines are the preferred first-line therapy, and certain medications have shown potential for repurposing in PCOS. Further research and well-designed clinical trials are needed, as the current evidence is limited.

Summary: PCOS is a common disorder related to endocrine/reproductive/metabolic systems, and it is associated with low-grade chronic inflammation. Patients with PCOS have higher levels of inflammatory cells and factors, as well as lower levels of anti-inflammatory cytokines. This systemic inflammation is thought to interact with obesity, insulin resistance, and hyperandrogenism.

Summary: The study found that there is a positive association between the ApoB/ApoA1 ratio and metabolic and endocrine parameters in women with PCOS. Higher ratios were also associated with increased risk of MetS and IR. The ratio could be a useful tool for screening MetS and IR in PCOS patients.

Summary: Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a common endocrine and metabolic disorder, and inflammation is believed to play a crucial role in its pathogenesis. This study found that serum calprotectin levels were higher in women with PCOS, and were correlated with insulin resistance, hyperandrogenism, and chronic inflammation.

Summary: PCOS is an endocrine disorder that affects 5-10% of reproductive-age women, characterized by chronic anovulation, polycystic ovaries, hyperandrogenism, hyperinsulinemia, and central obesity. Recent research has highlighted the potential involvement of long noncoding RNAs in the development of PCOS.

Summary: Despite numerous studies, the cause of PCOS remains unknown. To confirm the reliability of proposed metabolomics biomarkers, we conducted a validation study on serum and urine samples from PCOS patients and healthy controls. Our analysis identified a comprehensive set of altered metabolites in PCOS patients, indicating disruptions in hormone synthesis, lipid metabolism, and energy production.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the effects of a 6-week program of 8 h time-restricted feeding (TRF) diet in polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). Thirty women diagnosed with PCOS underwent the intervention. The results showed improvements in anthropometric, hormonal, metabolic profiles, and fecal calprotectin level after the diet. The findings suggest that a 6-week diet intervention with 8 h TRF may be a suitable and effective intermittent fasting protocol for PCOS.

Summary: This study included 5 RCTs and found that cinnamon supplementation significantly reduced insulin resistance scores in women with PCOS and may improve certain IR markers. Cinnamon is suggested to lower IR by promoting insulin action, stimulating insulin signaling pathways, and enhancing insulin sensitivity.
