Summary: This systematic review aimed to assess the measurement properties of grimace scales for pain assessment in animals. The review found significant variability in the development and measurement properties of these scales across different species. The Mouse, Rat, Horse, and Feline Grimace Scales showed strong evidence, while the Rabbit, Lamb, Piglet, and Ferret Grimace Scales, as well as the Sheep Pain Facial Expression Scale, had moderate evidence. The Sheep Grimace Scale, EQUUS-FAP, and EQUUS-Donkey-FAP had low evidence for measurement properties. The most reported measurement property was construct validity, while reliability and other forms of validity were understudied.

Summary: This study analyzed the Rasch psychometric characteristics of PSEQ and its short forms in an Italian-speaking population with neck pain disorders, revealing high measurement precision for PSEQ but low precision for the short forms. The results suggest caution in using the short forms for individual-level clinical decision-making.

Summary: The study validated the Spanish Writing Strategies Questionnaire for upper-primary students, which measures students' preferences for different writing strategies through a multidimensional model. Factor analysis identified four factors - thinking, planning, revising, and monitoring - representing different writing strategies.

Summary: The researchers developed a scale to assess positive self-beliefs, which can be used in research and clinical practice. The scale consists of 24 items, including four factors: mastery, strength, enjoyment, and character. The results of the study show that the scale is strongly connected to psychological well-being.

Summary: The purpose of this study was to develop a brief and efficient measurement instrument for researchers to assess stress in individuals. The Chinese version of the Perceived Stress Questionnaire-13 (PSQ-C-13) was validated and found to have good measurement properties, with a two-factor structure (constraint and imbalance). The instrument demonstrated satisfactory convergent validity, measurement invariance across subgroups and time points, and sound internal consistency and stability.

Summary: This study aimed to validate the Korean version of the Toronto Empathy Questionnaire for measuring empathy in medical students. Results showed that female students had higher empathy scores than males, and a modified 14-item three-factor model had better psychometric properties than the original scale.

Summary: Health literacy plays a key role in empowering individuals and enabling them to make health-related decisions. This research examines the psychometric properties of the Arabic Health Literacy Questionnaire (HLQ) and confirms its reliability, validity, and measurement invariances. The study findings support the internal consistency, convergence, and factor structure of the HLQ, making it a reliable and valid tool for measuring health literacy among Arabic-speaking populations.

Summary: This paper introduces a brief 6-item version of the Perth Alexithymia Questionnaire (PAQ-S) as a measure of an important transdiagnostic risk factor for psychopathologies. The PAQ-S shows good psychometric properties in terms of factor structure, reliability, and concurrent/criterion validity. It can serve as a quick and robust measure of overall alexithymia levels.

Summary: The purpose of this study was to translate and adapt the NPQ into Hausa and assess its psychometric properties. The translated Hausa-NPQ showed excellent internal consistency and strong correlation with the NPRS. It is a valid and reliable measure of disability due to neck pain.

Summary: The study assessed the measurement invariance of the PHQ-9 across various sociodemographic and medical-condition groups using data from the Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey. The results showed that the PHQ-9 had equivalent overall structure, factor loadings, and item intercepts across age groups, and can be reliably used to compare the severity of depressive symptoms across these groups in research and practice.

Summary: Episodic and chronic migraines were associated with reduced total range of motion and mean angular velocity of neck movements, while muscle activity during active neck movements did not show significant differences. Neck disability and kinesiophobia were weakly correlated with cervical movement parameters.

Summary: Self-report is considered the gold standard for measuring children's health-related outcomes, with this review focusing on factors such as recall period, response scale format, and mode of administration. The study found that children under 5 years old cannot validly and reliably self-report health outcomes, and that face scales demonstrate better psychometric properties than visual analogue or Likert scales. The results also indicate that children generally prefer computerised measures and different age groups may require different response options.

Summary: This study evaluated the psychometric properties of the Multidimensional Depression Assessment Scale (MDAS) across gender and four major ethnic groups, and found that it had good internal consistency and concurrent reliability. The study also established a stable factor structure and measurement invariance for MDAS, suggesting its potential use in clinical settings.

Summary: The study found that the prescription of ADHD medications increased with age over the past years, with a decrease in prescriptions for younger patients and an increase in prescriptions for older patients. While the trend of medication prescription for children has stopped, the use of ADHD medications has been increasing among older adolescents and adults.

Summary: The study validated the UTI-SIQ-8 questionnaire as an economic, reliable, and valid tool for assessing symptom severity and change in women with uncomplicated UTI. Results showed high internal consistency, convergent validity, discriminant validity, and sensitivity to changes over time, with daily symptoms changes correlating with changes in EQ-5D-5L and visual analogue scale.

Summary: This study explored nursing students' experiences with handling patients' sleeping problems and the usage of sleep-inducing drugs in hospitals. Findings suggest that students prefer pharmacological solutions over non-drug alternatives, which are rarely taught or used. More training and role modeling by healthcare professionals is needed to address this issue.

Summary: The study found that while there were a large number of private prescriptions for benzodiazepines and Z-drugs, the proportion of private prescriptions was only slightly higher for refills than for single prescriptions. Doctors do not seem to issue private prescriptions as a strategy to mask especially long-term use of these substances.
